i've noticed that recently there seem to be a lot of topics which we've had before...and even though i'm not perticularily (how do you write that) inspired ive decided to make a topic which i hope we havent had before and is (in my opinion) not boring. (not saying that any of your topics are boring)

i just noticed that where is my mind is on fight club...well, acctually i noticed a few months ago but same thing...fight club rocks and the song sounds really good with the explosions...

i got the dvd (pixies) for christmas...its soooo cool...i never imagined the band to be like that...i knew alot about them but i inever imagined black francis being so agile, kim being so funny and bouncy and joey being so serious!!!!

anyway...thats all

yes i'm fine, thanks for asking homers pet monkey. i nolonger dive head first to the floor and let movie stars do all the fighting. actors get paid to fake but the bored imitate sorta like masterbate there way through life and then pay more to see whats up next like... oh i dont know maybe a movie about the zodiac killer. OH SNAP Chuck.
response?

I was just getting to know the Pixies when someone told me that one of their tunes was in Fight Club. I got so caught up in the movie that I forgot about the song (I also watched the entire film forgetting that Meatloaf was in it; I didn't recognize him.) IMHO Fight Club was great and hearing the Pixies in it too was the topper.

That was a great movie! I have seen the ending before and WIMM... and love that.

What a great modren tragedy with the ego and superego "fighting" themselves... haven't seen that good of one since the greek trageties. Awesome!

Fight Club has lots of blood in it and "Where is my mind?" seems to mention breakdancing.
when i was a kid i loved doin "The Worm" diving head first to the floor and taking off backwards inchworm style was a great way to travel. one night before bed i said "hey ma check this out" well my arms were more ready for bed then my head so i drove my face into the floor. there was lots of blood.
years later i found a soothing tune that made me smile, without all that blood.

Are you OK?

Don't forget the bazillions of live bootlegs from the old days and the dozens of legit and bootleg concerts from 2004. For me, the old music gained new life after I discovered those ... I'm like some sort of alterna-Deadhead, following the Pixies around to a new show (in my head at least)every week

IMHO that genuinely great song doesn't belong in such an overrated, pretentious film.

==edit to add "IMHO"==

I'm not a big fan of the film, but the Pixies moment is very effective.

I started with Trompe, actually.

I don't have a problem with topics returning in a sort of forum
Nietzschean eternal return. Seriously, I respect the forum's rules and need
for order but I cannot be expected to know that two years ago and on page
37 of general chat subject X was discussed and so I shouldn't post
about it.

Fight Club. I loved that movie and had no idea that at the end Frank
and his old band were gonna start playing. Blew me away.

I still believe in the excellent joy of the Frank

the tree then branches out to the man, the breeders, the amps, the martinis, the kelley deal 6000, the catholics and so on.
it's some awesome music to be into.

part of the pixie mystique to me was that they were no longer together. it made the music that bit more sacred.
i have a feeling we haven't heard the last of the pixies though (record wise)

in the mean time, FB keeps us busy.
i dont know which i'd miss most. Pixie music or Franks

wow! what a way to find out about the P's. It's not even their best song.
you must have been bursting with joy when you finally caught up on the back catalogue. so much to hear, all of it so so good.

gotta lve fight club man.its all thanks to tyler durden that i even like the pixies/frank black.that film got me to download that song which in turn led me to buy surfer rosa + plus every other pixies album which then led me to bye teenager of the year ,followed by all the other frank black releases.which in turn led me to join the frank black forum which led me to this very second in my life.
its safe to say that film changed my life.

sorry charlie.t, i think all this has been discussed, but there's still no harm in covering old ground. I agree about fight club, darn good film and the ending, well it's the pixies isn't it. you can't get better than that.

the pixies dvd is cool too, if only for the single videos. the documentary was shown over here few years before so i wasn't much interested in what prat face bono has to say about the Ps. And the live concert, well it's the songs from the reunion tour. Heard them all too many times to really be in awe. But i did love the bit of frank singing without his guitar, little lost boy up there in the spotlight. The dvd to me was just for nostalgia and a must have because i'm a fan. But offered not much else.

can't wait for the new dvd though. alot more interesting, even if the songs are the same.

oh, and particularly
