Okay...so yesterday I'm driving around, listening to Bossanova, and HANGWIRE comes on. I've heard this song a BILLION times...but I've never noticed Frank (or Charles, or Black) say 'yeah' 15 seconds into the track...over the 'ling' in 'Wind is whistling(yeah) on the barb...'

It was spooky, and totally creeped me out. I had to repeat it a dozen times. Oh well. I'm sure this has been noticed before, however it chilled me!

i know this is pretty lazy of me, but it really helped last time when you posted the times of the ghostly shenanigans. What are the chances?

i don't mind listening to the song the whole way through, this is fun stuff.

Oh these shenanigans will astound you! I don't have the cd with me (I'm at work), but from memory I would say around the second verse (maybe close to 'ripshit') the verse follows in swirly whispers immediately what Black has sung. The beats just before the first chorus of "Is She Weird is she white...etc." has a nice trail of phantomatic electromagnetic voice phenomenon a la PIXIES.

OOOhhh! I haven't had this much spooky fun since REVOLUTION 9 in sixth grade!!!

In Josh Frank's book it says Gil Norton sang backing vocal on is she weird. Could that be it?

Hmm...I think that that might just be the track "printing through" on the analog tape..

I hear all sorts of things. That's one of the amazing things
about Frank, there is so much to discover so many years
later, infinite layers even after hearing the same songs
a gazillion times.

I still believe in the excellent joy of the Frank

Yeah sounds like a frog noise to me too.. Maybe it's a pick scrape.
Broken Face Posted - 02/07/2005 : 17:04:43
its some sort of noise for sure - i can't tell if its a distorted vocal or a guitar sound

Maybe...maybe not. I hear 'yeah' as clear as a (a ringing) bell. Even so, isn't it strange that this 'sound' seems so loud, but has never really been noticed before? Or maybe it has, and I'm just giving myself too much credit.

Frogs.

I'll take a listen, thanks for the hint.
And the hangwire one does sound like the scrape of a pick for sure.

But it's not! There is a definate 'yeah' dubbed in there. Also, 'Is She Weird' has a lot of weird stuff going on in it with whispery ghostly echoes of the lyrics...some of it sounds like Kim whispering.

That's a new one to me.
I think I must always be singing over the top of it to notice.

I don't hear the 'yeah', more a high pitched frog croak, however weird that sounds.
And these headphones aren't the best.
