Posted - 01/31/2005 : 08:59:52 That Grohl man plays guitar on I've been waiting for you, which is Not a Pixies song if I need to underline that fact. Moreover, that same hairy person only screams a couple of times on Jewell, the Reeves' song. Thank You

Yep, it's on Pin Ups, his covers album. I think it's actually better then original, but I've only heard it once or twice.
'it seems,' I said, looking up at the sun, 'when a man dreams, a white butterfly does be after coming out of his mouth and walking away; and when it comes back again, it is then he awakes.'

Posted - 01/19/2005 : 06:49:43 Bowie, like Presley, Sinatra, Marc Almond or Scott Walker was always very selective and managed to amphasize the songs he covered and made them his own. This is why you can say he is a Performer. It is true that very few artists cover songs of a younger musician. His cover of Morrissey's "I know it gonna happen someday" was brillant, as well as "Oh Superman" by Laurie anderson though it was sung by Gail Ann Dorsey it still shows how tasteful he is. My only disapointment was that he sang with trent reznor some of his depressed and pointless Nine inch nails songs... Can't understand the qualities of that skinny puppy-like band that DON'T rock at all...
Anyway I Bow to Bowie... and would give hime some head...
By the way have anyone heard of Jobriath?

Posted - 01/19/2005 : 02:59:39 I've only heard his version of Cactus, which is quite nice. Which is a big compliment, since most pixies-covers I've heard (not that many I've got to admit) are terrible.
Didn't know Bowie also did Tony's Theme, cool. You've got to love his choice of covers, he also did Jonathan Richman and Legendary Stardust Cowboy recently. He's one of the very few artists who isn't too full of himself to cover artists who are younger than himself. The only other one that comes to mind is Johnny Cash, but I'm not sure that's his or Rick Rubin's choice. |

Posted - 01/19/2005 : 02:58:05 Cactus is pretty good. Fantastic live.
On the studio recording Bowie played every single instrument. |

Posted - 01/19/2005 : 01:20:33 Tin Machine's cover of 'Debaser' was ok but it was Hunt Sales that sang the lead vocal and I prefer Bowie's vocals.
