heh yeah. and when he breaks a string during ed is dead and sings without a guitar.... he looks so awkward and eventually starts playing air guitar.

it seems like he breaks eightymillion strings everyday

its funny how frank just stands there and swings his guitar, he looks so awkward lol. oh, our frank grew up to be quite the man now...
charlesthompson Posted - 01/06/2005 : 11:16:20
no, its just the vocals are EXACTLY the same, the crowd cheers at EXACTLY the same timing...the crowd let out a cheer when frank managed to catch his mic. after knocking it over. and the guitar is the same aswell (but i never knew that they only have one guitar in that song!!!! its sounds soo full and whole id have thought there would have been frank strumming and joey with some unaudiable riff which fits in so well that you can make a distincition between it and the chords but which you would notice is it wasnt there!!!)

watching the dvd for the first time was great because you can finally see why charles' voice gets quiter in the intro.

Sublime used basically the whole song in Doin' Time

its a pretty cool song, its funny how many artists use quotes from other songs to pass a message. e.g. Bloodhound gang quoting pixies stuff

Is this gershwin's summertime?
and yes, I was expecting him to say bitch the first time I heard it

Is "Summertime" originally from Porgy and Bess?? That's what I always associate it-- but not sure if it's correct.

Did anyone at I can't remember if it was the early or late NYC show hear literally sing "Pretty B" or is it just me and my wacky hearing?

Yeah, he steals the line from Summertime.

"Summertime"

Summertime and the livin' is easy
Fish are jumpin', and the cotton is high
Your Daddy's rich and your Mama is good lookin'
So, hush, little baby don't you cry

One of these mornings you're gonna rise up singin'
You're gonna spread your wings and take to the sky, take to the sky
But until that mornin' there's nothin' that can harm you
With Daddy and Mommy standin' by

Summertime
Yes, it's the time, I'm talking about summertime
And the livin', summer living, and the living is so fine
Fish are jumpin', and the cotton is high
Your Daddy's rich, he's rich, your Daddy's filthy rich
And your Mama, hot Mama, your Mama's so good lookin'
So, hush, little baby don't you cry

Summertime and the livin' is easy
Fish are jumpin', and the cotton is high
Your Daddy's rich and your Mama is good lookin'
So, hush, little baby don't you cry

"your daddy's rich, and your momma's good looking." actually, that lyric is lifted from a jazz standard, the name of which escapes me (possibly 'summertime'), sung by ella fitgerald among others.

I was too. I thought Frank was teasing us.

Yeah, I even used to sing that the first few times I heard it and then noticed I wasn't really singing what he was singing. :)
