Posted - 11/29/2004 : 05:46:50 Today's random song of the day is Cactus.
What do you think of it?
lyrics Sitting here, wishing on a cement floor Just wishing that I had just something you wore I'd put it on when I go lonely Will you take off your dress and send it to me?
I miss your kissing and I miss your head And a letter in your writing doesn't mean you're not dead Run outside in the desert heat Make your dress all wet and send it to me
I miss your soup and I miss your bread And a letter in your writing doesn't mean you're not dead So spill your breakfast and drip your wine Just wear that dress when you dine
P I X I E S
Sitting here, wishing on a cement floor Just wishing that I had just something you wore Bloody your hands on a cactus tree Wipe it on your dress and send it to me
Sitting here, wishing on a cement floor Just wishing that I had just something you wore

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I've seen it described as a letter from a guy in prison to his girlfriend.

Posted - 12/16/2004 : 05:49:43 Definetly one of my favs from surfa, cactus is class its one of the more casual pixies songs and the lyrics are tremendous as is kims vocals too. I like bowies version too! not as much as the origional and forever best. |

Posted - 11/30/2004 : 01:59:03 Just got the latest Bowie DVD for my birthday and Cactus is on it. I thought it was cool. And Gail Ann Dorsey is as pretty as Kim, though they have nothing in common.

Posted - 11/30/2004 : 01:07:34 A Horny song my favorite I think?.........if they didn't play it live I'd feel let down.
I was so pleased when he played it with the Catholics.......but to see it played once again with the Pixies......just BIG SMILE......and horn!!!!!
The version on the French DVD is one of the best ever......wish I'd been there!!!

Posted - 11/29/2004 : 14:48:10 Such a simple song, and yet so good. I wish it wasn't followed up by Tony's Theme. It almost ruins it. |

Posted - 11/29/2004 : 13:55:25 brilliant brilliant brilliant. I love the lyrics, I love the riff, I love the vocals. Surfer Rosa's top 3. |

Posted - 11/29/2004 : 13:54:35 Maybe not just sexy, but *sensual*. It evokes all the senses, yet takes place in a barren place. First time I heard "Surfer Rosa & Come on Pilgrim," the song stuck out. It might be the prettiest song on the album. I guess "Where Is My Mind?" is the most profound. |

Posted - 11/29/2004 : 09:41:08 I love this song, the way he sings it, this is my favourite part "Bloody your hands on a cactus tree, Wipe it on your dress and send it to me", it´s fabulous! I can understand why Bowie liked it too...he has good taste!

Surfer Rosa |
Posted - 11/29/2004 : 08:04:16 And you don't find that sexy?
I thought I could see the light at the end of the tunnel, but it was just some b*stard with a torch, bringing me more work. |

Posted - 11/29/2004 : 08:02:15 He's sitting on the cement floor in a basement, with candles and such, doing a ritual to curse the girl. He gets half way through and realizes he doesn't have a personal item for the curse to work. He needs her bloody, sweaty, food-stained dress.
Okay, I know that doesn't conform to all the lyrics. It's really a song about longing. But I can't shake that image when I hear the song. |
Surfer Rosa |
Posted - 11/29/2004 : 07:50:38 One of the sexiest Pixies songs in my humble opinion.
