Hello all!

In full-on stalker mode, I dragged my reluctant (and FB-hating) wife into Hyannis on our last trip to Cape Cod. Objective: find the elusive Quarterdeck Lounge. You'll be happy to know (or maybe just a little creeped out) that we did find it, that I took pictures there while my wife was getting hit on by a recent ex-convict, that Errol was not in evidence - although lots of Pixies and FB memorabilia is on display.

So I bought a beer and took some photos, all the while thinking that these gettin'-drunk-at-two-on-a-Thursday-afternoon bar patrons might find my flash going off in the next room a little curious, if not flashback-inducing. Plus, I was in a rush to get back to my wife at the bar, where she was actually holding her own. The result: lousy photos taken in haste.

And here they are, right up near the top of the page:

The walls (and ceiling) at the Quarterdeck are peppered with lots of posters, handbills and promotional items from pretty recent to way back in the 4AD days. Also noted - and photographed unfocusedly - a slightly worn shirt from this year's Coachella festival. I can only assume this is Errol's shirt, maybe shed in the heat of a particularly contentious game of pool?

A side note to Charles (although I'm guessing he isn't coming 'round these parts much anymore) - sorry if this seems like an intrusion of your personal space. I mean no disrepect. But, honestly, what the hell else is there to do in Hyannis, anyway?!

So now we have Errol, Parker, And Ian? Inquiring minds want to know... How cool to have FB for a brother !
mereubu Posted - 09/02/2004 : 19:18:24
Yep, you're right--I'm going on memory here. I believe that there is also an Ian, but yes, it's Parker in the video.

Mereubu, if memory serves me correctly, in the "Hang On To Your Ego" video, does it not say somewhere in the video "Frank's brother Parker" ??? I'll have to watch that one over the weekend. And mg1971, thanks for sharing the photos.

mg1971, I think that that must have been Ian--he's in the "Hang On To Your Ego" video and appeared to be about twelve at the time.

Good pics, TBG. Sorry to hear that yer lady does not love the FB but glad that she was able to fend off the patrons. I think that bars are even scarier at 2:30 p.m. than they are at 2:30 a.m.

I think it was owned by their father at one point. They look a lot alike and appear to be roughly the same age, so I don't know about being half brothers. During the Trompe tour I saw a little boy come out and say "Now introducing my brother's band ... THE PIXIES!!!" Seeing as he was caucasion, he was either Dave or Charles' brother. I thought I heard once that Charles has a much younger half brother.

Not that it is any of our business.

I was there this past Thursday. I think I spent most of my time in Spinnaker Records.

Wait what is the connection?
big_galoof Posted - 08/31/2004 : 13:27:19
It's right on 28, near where the railroad tracks cross - as you drive east through Hyannis on 28 it'll be on the right. It's pretty easy to miss.

I actually was down Hyannis last Wednesday for work and tried to find the Quarterdeck but couldn't. There's a Quarterdeck in Falmouth and whenever I asked where the Quaterdeck was I was told "In Falmouth." I asked my restaurant owner client if he knew where the Quarterdeck was (figuring he owned a restaurant there he would know) Even he wasn't sure where it was but believed that it was a tough biker bar and warned against me going there.

It's right near the airport isn't it? I'll be down there again in a couple of weeks and am going to look for it again.

Cool!! Did you try any 'Whale Piss'? It's advertised on the board next to the Surfer Rosa (Gold?)Disc.
