Posted - 08/27/2004 : 15:10:50 Hey guys was appreciating BLD tonight and can't belive how good a late night album it is was flicking through a few faves until I came across Jane Queen of Love, so since I was online I got up the lyrics, seemed like a breakup situation to me, guy not wanting to pick up the phone, only love, love is done etc then I thought hmmmm wasn't this about the time he was having problems with his relationship with jean? Then thought hang on isn't jane an annagram of jean?
Also then reading the current spin pixies inteview it talks of jean getting frank to use a stupid word like cookie in tame, am wondering if bumble bee love is kinda like a tribute to that or other songs she's gotten frank to use non conventional words in and make them more frankimitized, if you know what I mean.
All I can say is I can't think of a more touching tribute musically if I'm right it's an ace song sounds like some work had gone into it.
Sorry if this has been talked about before btw |

I believe that it was jean who prevented that stupid words (or not original words) like baby wouldn't be used in some songs. I like cookie much better than baby or love

first forum link found on "Jane the Queen of Love"
There's more somewhere, though we by know means figured it all out. I personally think you're right on about the timing on the relationship, etc. |

Posted - 08/27/2004 : 15:43:04 thanks a lot, just one of those things that pops into your head and refuses to leave until it gets exorcised.
Yeah I did try the search function first too after seeing too many other folkes on other forums get balled for posting questions that have been answered already but I didn't get any hits save one talking about the channel dropout at around 1:02 (yeah bugs me too!)
Dig away btw am kinda intrested, cheers. |

Interesting thoughts. There has been discussion of this topic before, but I believe it is archived now, and the search fundtion, as you will discover, does not always feel cooperative.
I will try to dig up what I can for you. One thing I know is that the bumblebee metaphor in some part has to do with Jainism, which is also a play on Jean/Jane. There are words in the song that are aspects of that religion.
ok, guess I'll get to diggin' up the old thread(s). |
