what is the most common occupation of FB fans? are they as people tend to think, nerdy... sci-fi weirdo's... who sit infront of computers for most of the day enjoying quirky music ?

i dunno (just wondering)..... if posted before, apologies..

life is too short my friend

I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out.

As for me, if anybody cares, I am a high school teacher, age 30. (I teach history)

Actually, I just found out parent teacher interview night is the same as the Pixies show I have tickets for in Toronto, so I dont think I can go.

irony [French ironie, from Old French, from Latin rna, from Greek eirneia, feigned ignorance, from eirn, dissembler, probably from eirein, to say. See wer-5 in Indo-European Roots.]
1. Incongruity between what might be expected and what actually occurs: “Hyde noted the irony of Ireland's copying the nation she most hated” (Richard Kain). or "Dinsdale Piranha actually grew up to be a teacher and he cant go see the Pixies 'cause its interview night"

i don't know any frank fans, apart from people who i lent the albums to, and even then they prefer the pixies. and all the pixies fans i know are, well, posers. apart from my friends.:)

Well that makes you a stereotypical male then!

I had much funon the train earlier, eating strawberries and cream, it was messy people looked at me funny, I told them I was practising for my imminent bukkake video.

I know three frank black fans all male (FB solo/FB Pixies)
I knew a girl who was a pixies fan...
I'm a girl who likes FB solo and the pixies

Except for the sex part I'm completely neutral but only when I'm alone. I only know of two other people who like Frank Black, a friend and my wife and we're all different monotypical other people. I think all of us are real music needers as opposed to those to whom the doors of perception are revolving.
BLT Posted - 08/20/2004 : 17:03:18
This thread has certainly taught us a lot.

I used to be a female Frank Black fan.

Nothing is ever something.
FrankfanL Posted - 08/20/2004 : 13:15:09
Another female FB fan here ! It does seem that everyone I know who digs Frank's music is male. I don't consider myself a geek, but I do spend my days on the computer because it is how I do my job. I'm a telecommunications technician, working with fiber optics.I also play guitar, and have a great appreciation of Franks' song crafting abilities. Let's just say his tunes rip my head off!!! From what I can tell, it seems like the folks on this site are quite diverse.
tobafett Posted - 08/20/2004 : 13:05:52
I listen to music stereotypically (with my ears)...hope that doesn't leave me out of the cool cliques...

computers are neat, by the way.

Where did you learn to speak Portuguese? It´s not very common!
This was really a surprise to me!
This Forum and people in it are really great, it must be like that as we all like so much F.B. music!

I like spaghetti, but I don't make my own music or know much musical trivia, so I think I'm different from a lot of the people here in that respect.

whoreatthedoor Posted - 08/20/2004 : 00:01:53
Well, I guess the most of you are 20-40 years old and have a big musical culture. As he said, Frank needs a few listenings to love his records, so probably we are patient people. And we all love sghettis too!

P.S.: I don't like sghettis so much, but you know, I'm not the stereotypical fan

judging by a lotta people's "favorite music" lists ive seen...i think its safe to say there's a diverse group here from various backgrounds that dont fit into any mold easily....and judging by the pics of seen on this board there's no stereotypical look either. some people here look like ordinaries, some like indie rock kids, some like geeks, myself..well, im 28 and i still dress like a 1990 t-shirt and jeans "raver" type with long hair (though my party days are long gone...i just got too used to the big clothes...heh).
VoVat Posted - 08/19/2004 : 17:34:12
I sort of get the idea that there are a fair number of female Pixies fans, but not quite so many female Frank solo/Catholics fans. Males probably outnumber the females in both categories, though.

As a heart surgeon by day, I hear it alot from people: "what does 'Pixies' mean, that you've stitched into my chest?'"
So I have to explain that they were Frank Black's former band.

lonely persuader Posted - 08/19/2004 : 03:01:23
but does anyone think that there is a certain type of person who gets into frank black (not neccessarily nerdy) but a certain pyschology (can't spell) that at least makes it easier to get it (the music)..... and if one has that certain pyschology, it would also be more likely that he/she would like books, computers and other stuff.... like my favourite book is 1984 (im not a huge book or film fan either, tbh like 2-3 books a year)

and more such musings
