Anyone here like Townes Van Zandt?

He's amazing

I'm thinking(just thinking) that Frank probably does.

TVZ was a great songwriter. Inspired the likes of Steve Earle. Check out "Return of the Grevious Angel" a TVZ tribute album and listen to Sin City by Beck and Emmylou Harris. Great stuff.
There's got to be a FB connection in there somewhere.

Cover tunes are rarely as good as the original, and never better. One of the handfull of exceptions has to be Townes' cover of the Rolling Stones song "Dead Flowers". Magnificent.

PS - I'm sure that Frank mentions Townes in the following interview

Go to listen again: Frank Black interview (duh)

I love the late, lamented Townes. Townes didn't write the Shrimp Song, but it was his version that Frank first heard.

Didn't he write The Shrimp Song?
