I never really got into Pistelero the first time I heard it, but I have to say, I've been listening to some of it again and diggin' some the songs. 'Western Star' in particular, which I've been figuring out on me tele and singing along to! 'Bad Harmony' is also' pretty cool, 'Billy Radcliffe'(I remember hearing that ages ago, on a Total Guitar magazine CD, and liking it), '85 Weeks'(is that about Eric Drew Feldman claiming to have stayed awake that long? I saw a documentary a few years ago about a man who had a rare brain condition, and could'nt sleep even under heavy sedition-he was awake for over a year or so, and died in hospital in a state of delireum). And 'Your Such A Wire' 'I Think I'm Starting To Lose It' and 'Skeleton Man are also good tunes. I hav'nt been able to get into the Neil Young-ish doom-fest of 'Just Can't Make Things Out', though. Might get the re-issue for the extra tracks(it's so easy to scam gullible people out of money!)

I love Pistolero. Depending on my mood, it's my favourite at times. Lovely raw rock sound to it, with great guitar riffs.

the bermuda triangle riddle is believed to be solved - it's supposed to be methan gas which comes up from the ocean floor in "bubbles" and decreases the density of water (& air too ?) rapidly. so or such i read.
i wonder when frank will write a song about that !

@ topic: i think every frank-album is a grower. even teenager. and pistolero, yeah, i almost hated in the first time. but now, i think it has some incredibly good songs on it, and i like the whole album a lot. but 2 or 3 songs i always skip (switched you, I Want Rock & Roll, So Hard To Make Things Out - they are too "wild" for me, in some sense)

I joined the cult of this mouse / and now I occidentally tic-tac

I always thought it was great some of the songs on this album are amongst my favourites (bad harmony,I switched you, western star, billy radcliffe and I think Im starting to lose it) however the album doesn't quite match up to the others because there are a few dodgy ones. While Fb&c and Dits are pretty much great from start to finish but with perhaps fewer 'greats'. Im gonna put it on now.

I agree with the subject line. I didn't much care for Pistolero at first, but I later came to appreciate quite a few of the songs. This is probably also my least-played Frank album, though. Maybe I should listen to it again soon.

I heart Pistelero! Western Star is one of my favorite FB songs, but I also madly love Tiny Heart - the end where Frank and McDave sing is very awesome I think. Oh, and I Love Your Brain is fabulous. If I get married ever, I want to play that at the wedding. Cause when you break it all down, isn't the BRAIN what you really fall for about someone?

Call me crazy, I have all this shit planned out.

P is a beautiful beast! one of the best slabs of noise FB or FB+C have ever produced. when I make FB compilations, I draw the most tracks from P. a strong indication that P is probably my fave FB record.. although Black Letter Days is equally as good in my eyes and to my ears.

Oh and it's PistOlero btw...

I'm one of those whom you speak of. I could never get into it for some reason. I try and I try and I recently tried again. It has a few great songs but the majority didn't hit me like FB and the C, or DITS.

PISTOLERO is an album I loved immediately. It's the most energetic and hardest rocking Catholics record and I consider it my second favorite (after SHOW ME YOUR TEARS). That so many here don't like it is a great mystery to me, on par with the Bermuda Triangle and how the Pyramids were built.

"85 Weeks" is about Eric Drew Feldman telling a Captain Beefheart story.

The reissue doesn't have extra tracks. I don't think so at least. I believe it's only being put back in print in the UK on a different label (Cooking Vinyl) from the previous.
