Posted - 07/09/2004 : 17:18:30 it's OK to flash these signs to Frank:
"C" for "The Catholics"
"Y" for "Yellow Album"
but DO NOT flash any of these:
the ominous "O" symbol, for the "Orange Album" (a term he is not fond of)
or this one
which doesn't mean anything and you'll just look stupid.

Posted - 07/09/2004 : 16:18:06 a 'sup holmes' followed by a flashing a few gang signs and a multi-step handshake is generally a proper way to greet him...warning...if you flash the wrong sign he will unload a few caps in your sorry ass. |

Posted - 07/09/2004 : 15:50:15 I called him "Mr. Black" once, when he was on tour as Frank Black, and he gave me a funny look and said "Can I be frank?" I smiled and then he winked and I laughed and waited for him to say something, I was quite drunk so I just walked away. I'm still not sure if he was going to say something like "your breath stinks, dude" or "no, I want to be called Frank". Still a funny memory, fuzzy, but funny.

Posted - 07/09/2004 : 14:59:25 I asked him this question and he answered it on the forum...I think it's in the "king holds court" thread. His response was basicly that he didn't care what you called him. Back in 2000 when I was hanging out with The Bennies before and after the show while FB&TC were taking down their gear, the band referred to him as "CT."
I guess I just wasn't made for these times. |

Posted - 07/08/2004 : 15:02:28 I'd probably call him Frank, if I had occasion to call him anything. I'd be unlikely to call out to him if I saw him on the street or something, though. I'd be too shy and awestruck.

Posted - 07/08/2004 : 13:58:54 i think it's only polite to call him Frank unless you're a friend of his.
when you become as tight as he and i are, you can call him "C-dawg" like i do. but that takes years..

Posted - 07/08/2004 : 13:09:11 Or Charles Micheal Kitteridge Thompson the Fourth when she's mad at him. Lucky he's got a long name, she probably doesn't have the energy to get mad at him and say that whole name:
Mom Black: Who tracked mud all over the living room? Chuck: I was only coming in for a second and didn't want to take off my shoes. Mom: CHARLES Michael kitt... ahh, nevermind. <pause> Now go play Velouria for me while I clean up this mess.

Posted - 07/08/2004 : 10:58:54 Someone gave him a "hey Charles" after a show in Vancouver. It didn't go over to well. He just walked on without responding. Though, based on the mood he appeared to be in, I think if it were his mother, he would have reacted the same. The two times I've spoken to him, I haven't refered to him as anything, I just started babbling about his greatness. To shut me up, he thrust out his hand and I shook it. Fin.
