Jane the Queen of Love

Exceleent tune. Starts off all slow and kind of spaghetti-Westerny, like something you'd hear in "Kill Bill", then gets a little more rocky, finally ending up with sweetly belted out verses to the queen of love!!

Thoughts?

I always skip over "Jane"- not a bad song, I guess, but I could do without it.

"Pan American Highway" has to be in the Top 5 for FB songs- I could listen to it all day. It should've been a single and it ends up as a B-side. Makes no sense.

I don't know if "Jane the Queen of Love" is a great song exactly, though I do like it. The sound of it is great. It's anthemic, but it's also weary-sounding, which is a nice combination.

On that song, Frank and the band sound tired in the same way that Paul and the Beatles sound tired on "Oh Darling!". Like they're at the end of a set.

Jane The Queen Of Love is the song that really got me into Frank Black's solo stuff, and along with Where is My Mind and Hey, into all of his music. I'm not an enormous fan of Jane anymore, but it's still quite tasty. I love BLDs.

I think Jane is a mind blower. I love when it starts to kick in, and Frank serves up some great vocals. But I think it rocks hard, I like how it follows True Blue, because "I will run..." usually gets me going, then True Blue is a nice song that kind of calms me down, then I'm ready to rock out to Jane. Man, Black Letter Days is too good, I cant take it some times. I also just started recently to really get into Whispering Weeds a lot too.

I find "Are You Headed My Way?" to be really catchy. I think a lot of people don't like it, though.

As I remember, this was voted #2 song on BLD by members of fb.net.
So there must be something about it. Regrettably, over many listens I still regard it as a rather cliched and predictable song, apart from that great "she's la reine" bit.

Southbound Bevy and End Of Miles, now those are truly earth-shattering songs.

Toeknee.
