Posted - 09/28/2007 : 10:44:25 Bad Seed and namesake Mick Harvey's been a big influence too. My dream is to one day see Kid Congo Powers up onstage with Frank. PJ Harvey along with Radiohead cite Frank Pixies as their primo influence, nevermind Kurt.

Posted - 09/27/2007 : 21:56:16 A couple years ago I went on a San Francisco roadtrip to see Tanya Donelly one night and then Liz Phair the next, and my google showed Harvey in Santa Cruz the next night, so I made it a three night chick-rock thing. I was coming at this as a guy who had heard all of one Harvey disc, but I'm so glad I caught that show. She is so powerful on stage and just blew the roof off of the Catalyst that night. We know it's no accident she and Feldman are connected, as is also the case with Donelly and Gilbert, who played together in SF that same weekend.

Times Online - PJ Harvey steps into the light.
As you might expect from a woman with such a singular approach, her vigilance took strange forms. The first thing Harvey did after concluding the Uh Huh Her tour in 2005 was to move to LA, where she owns a one-bedroom apartment. She spent the best part of a year there playing bass in a group run by Morris Tepper, formerly a member of the last incarnation of Captain Beefheart’s Magic Band. “It was fantastic. Lifting gear around, driving vans to venues, rehearsing and practising new songs. It really made me think about tuning in to other people, and I’m not used to doing that.” |
