Posted - 05/21/2004 : 02:07:27 Question (and apologies if this has been covered before)but what do the people who know the man call the man?
In all the interviews and stuff I've seen of Joey, Kim and David they all refer to Frank as Charles, which kind of makes sense - especially as they I think they all knew him before he was Black Francis (and actually calling someone "Black Francis" in conversation would be kinda weird) - but I was just wondering what the people who know Frank from the "Frank Black" years call him - Catholics etc.
I know in Radio interviews the interviewers seem to all call him Frank - but then I guess calling him Charles in that situation might be a bit presumptuous.
Anyways...
My head was feeling scared, but my heart was feeling free |

Declan Patrick Aloyscious (sic?) MacManus.
Now we know why he gets angry when people use his real name

I had to interview the man once -- Called and left a message on his machine. Of course, on the machine he identified himself as "Charles." But feeling awkward going that familiar (Elvis Costello HATES people he doesn't know calling him Declan), I left a message for "Frank."
About 2 minutes later my phone rings: "Hi - this is Charles! I mean, this is 'Frank'! [laughs]"
I don't think he really gives a hoot which name ya use.
Elvis Costello's real name is Declan? I thought Elvis Costello WAS his real name. I guess you learn something new everyday.
Antoinette, when did you interview Frank? Is it posted anywhere on the net so that we can see it?
