Posted - 04/10/2004 : 13:07:27 No it's not another of my requests, the failure of Frank/Morissey is enough.
It's a song on the new album of a new, very popular French singer called Vincent Delerm, sung by two other French artists (Dominique A and Kerenn Ann), and called "Veruca Salt et Frank Black".
In the beginning of the song, the girl says "I've been listening to Veruca Salt and Frank Black". Very funny to mention these two artists together, because I remember there was a radio show featuring a French guy who was a FB fan and a girl from Chicago who liked Veruca Salt. Frank played live on this show, it's available on the ftp, I think (live at Fun Radio).
It's funny to think how this kind of name dropping operates : it shows your belonging to a certain type of people (you listen to Frank Black<=>you are a cool bourgeois left-wing intellectual) and sends you back to a period of your life.
It's funny to see these proustian themes in a song of Vincent Delerm whose father is a famous writer who basically rips off Proust.
