Posted - 04/06/2004 : 16:59:28 I just realized when putting on the "brown" Frank Black and the Catholics album that the tracks are sequenced in alphabetical order - i wonder if this was intentional. Am i the only boob who didn't realize this until now?

Posted - 04/29/2004 : 13:37:52 Although this album is one of my top favorites, I never noticed the alphabetical order till I read it here. So, Broken Face, you are not the only "boob" out there! I couldn't agree more with those of you who dig the ebb & flow---perfecto!! FB tunes, Lyle Workman's guitars are killer. I wish Lyle would be invited back . Rich and Joey are fab, but I agree with you BLT, a perfect compliment to Frank's rhythms. |

Posted - 04/28/2004 : 16:24:39 This album is such a motherfucker. The guitars sound the best of any Frank Black record, including the Pixies. Lyle's style seems so effortless and a perfect complement to Frank's scrubbing rhythm. |

Posted - 04/28/2004 : 15:18:04 I finally have all of Frank's releases as of today. Yay for me. You know how hard it is to find Pistolero, FB&tC, and The Cult of Ray all in the same place? |

Posted - 04/08/2004 : 11:57:30 Yeah, I too found out about the alphabetical sequence via this board (at least I think so, either that or a flash of pure genius a la prozacrat)
But it works so damn well! I don't think I would change the order of even one song...the ebb and flow is just perfect. I think it'd be pretty cool if Frank had simply decided to arrange the tracks just as is, and then realized that they were in alphabetical order! More likely the other way around though |

Posted - 04/07/2004 : 20:55:10 It's weird how it turned out that way...I don't think there could be a better opener than All My Ghosts or a better closer than The Man Who Was Too Loud. Maybe it's easy to say that cause I've listened to the album so many times and I'm used to it...but the way AMG starts (with the little Green Acres jam) and the way The Man ends (Aww, I better not) are perfect.

Posted - 04/07/2004 : 10:52:06 When I first looked at the CD I noticed that (because yes, I'm a pretentious supra genius and I know everything). Actually, I think I just happened to notice it right off the bat. And I was pretty sure that it was intentional cause it makes perfect sense. It's the simplest album Frank has ever done, if I'm not mistaken (not songwriting wise, but production wise). All live. Only two razor edits. One guitar in each channel. They wanted to release it. Why not stick to the simple theme and slap them on in alphabetical order? And I may agree with Broken Face. It's beautifully sequenced. Beautifully executed. Beautiful all around. I love how Frank has expanded the live to 2 track recording style to give us the full sound that we got on DITS and SMYT, but their first effort really gives any other band on the planet a run for their money, proving that simple is better (for some bands at some times).

Posted - 04/06/2004 : 17:20:45 exactly the way i found out - i think it might be because they were just demos originally, and perhaps were simply put that way to show the songs to the label without worrying about a specific running order. however, i think this might be the best sequenced FB record

Posted - 04/06/2004 : 17:08:36 It's been discussed before, but I think I found out the same way. Loading them into WinAmp and then going to arrange the tracks to find they were already in the correct order. :)
