Today's random song of the day is Suffering.

What do you think of it?

lyrics
I heard about your happiness
And all the plans that you''re involved in
Since you''re gone you''d be impressed
To know I, too, have been evolving
But I don''t think you comprehend

I''ve been suffering
Yeah, I''ve been suffering
Guess I''ll be suffering up around the bend

This love is a cancer in me
I can feel it advancing in me
This fire it is my light in the world
Well, I found me a new friend

I''ve been suffering
Yeah, I''ve been suffering
Guess I''ll be suffering up around the bend

I hung around in a leather bar
They threw me on the cement
Slept all night in my plastic car
Got in an accident

I brushed by you in the supermart
And I had me a touch of what''s real
It was real when you crushed me with your steel

Black clouds roll through my mind
Who says anyway these halls are sovereign?
I am a hater of the human kind
So keep away, this heart''s not softening
No, I don''t think that it''s the end of this suffering

Yeah, I''ve been suffering
I''ve been suffering
I''ve been suffering
And I''ll be suffering up around the bend

I think this song, as well as the album that it's on, is absolutly amazing.

As is everything else he's touched.

i agree...the weakest track on this album.

I'm a humble guy with healthy desire

Can't say I think much of it, though the vocal delivery is nicely rough and growly.

Very well-put, Humpy-Wheeler. I have a very special place for this song. When I first heard it, I was all "oh yeah, this song totally rocks". And it grabbed me and I played it loud. I instantly loved it. There have been many times when I took out my FB and the C's record just to put it on "Suffering" becuase that song is so rocking. It never grew on me; it never outgrew me. I've always thought it the epitome of rock. The core. The apotheosis. It's a very special song. Very deep. Very significant. It is a song with enough power and significance to end a last concert or something. The other tracks on the FB & the Cs album had to grow on me, but "Suffering" was an instant classic that I will always have a special place for. I'm not forming these opinions because Song Oracle asked to; I've always had these opinions. I thank song oracle for selecting this one.

This is a balls to the wall type of jam. I love the intro where he's fiddling around with some chords, says,"Yeah." and then BOOM! It's like someone grabbing you by the throat. Pretty much in your face the whole time. To quote Ol' Dirty Bastard,"Oh baby I like it Raaaaaaawwwwwwww!"

The drums are great, the vocals intense, the chords progressions perfect. The song rocks me like a magical kiss.

Definite proof that the French have no taste. Oh, wait...

Same for me.

Have some wine, please, don't run away.

it's awesome. it feels like a razorblade cutting through something.
"i'm a hater of the human kind, so keep away, this heart it is not softening" - a very sad line, but sometimes i can relate to it strongly.

Death to the Pixies / Here comes Frank Black

Skip a Frank Black song? Eh? Never. Ever. Unless I really really want to hear a particular song before I've finished listening to an album. Although maybe that's just me - I've never really been keen on skipping tracks by anybody.
Oh yeah, and I really like this song too. Damn fine song to cycle along to.

When I only knew the pixies'records and Pistolero, I heard Frank Black doing this song on the radio, acoustic and it blew me away.
From that moment on, I knew I had a new hero.

The FB and the C's album is great, but I can't help myself hearing it's just a demo that was released because they thought it was strong enough. This album should have been a classic, and could have if nick vincent had produced it. I love the live recording, but I think it works against the band on this one, where on pistelero and dits and after it works with the band.

Definitely a bit Who influenced, but still one of the best FB songs. Such a fiery performance.

Definitely my favourite song on the album - finished 8th on the Australian FB Countdown

3rd Annual Australian Frank Black Countdown August 2003 - all involved parties rank EVERY released FB song from FB self/titled to the present - average ranks are calculated - beer (or suitable substitute) is added (mostly in drinking-game form - ie. rate a song well below its average and you drink a punishing amount), then sit back and enjoy a day of frank black....the only problem is quite often memory of the top songs is somewhat limited the next day

fantastic song! There isn't a single one on this whole album that I come remotely close to not liking.

ˇViva los Católicos!

i think it's flaming-fantastic! one of my favourite fb & catholics songs! good old rock song with some shouting!

It's shambolically bitchin'. For some reason I never think of it as one of Frank's great songs, yet every time it comes on I love it.

I don't understand.
It's the best track from the album.

The "leather bar...plastic car" verse always makes me laugh. It's so odd, I love it.

I'm a fsh with no i's.

i agree with mrgrieves1971, but for different reasons. i think that scott does an incredible keith moon impression in a couple of songs - this one and the b-side 'announcement'. all those frenzied fills... i *never* skip this one.

I like his voice in this song. It's not my favorite on the CD but I still think it's pretty fabulous.
mrgrieves1971 Posted - 03/23/2004 : 08:19:31
Whenever I listen to it I can't help but think of late-era Who. I just think he sounds like Roger Daultry in it. That's a good thing.
Scarla O Posted - 03/23/2004 : 07:58:29

The middle-8 is fantastic and outshines the rest of the song in my opinion.
remig Posted - 03/23/2004 : 07:27:27
Strange tastes, both all my ghosts & Dog gone got realeased in CD single.
Like my friend say "Every shitty taste is in the nature" (mine included)
Adam Posted - 03/23/2004 : 07:12:40
See, Do you feel bad about it is another strong song. I would say All my ghosts & dog gone are the weaker ones from your list, remig. But that is what makes the album so good, everyone has feels strongly about different songs.
vilainde Posted - 03/23/2004 : 06:26:31
Yeah, it's not among the best tracks of Fb&TC. I'd say it's the 2nd weakest, right after Do You Feel Bad About It. It's still a cool song though. The last chorus is totally awesome.

If Suffering is one of the strongest how are these?
all my ghosts
Back to rome
Dog Gone
I gotta move
I need peace

Extra-Extra-Strong?
Adam Posted - 03/23/2004 : 06:04:39
Weakest? no, one of the strongest.
remig Posted - 03/23/2004 : 06:01:07
weakest track on FB&Cs.
