Posted - 02/23/2004 : 05:12:57 Today's random song of the day is Steak n' Sabre.
What do you think of it?
lyrics I was sitting at a table Down at the Steak ''n'' Sabre With Cain and Abel The circumstance was a different kind of world
We were laughing and drinking The universe was shrinking I was thinking, man, that''s a different kind of world
Down at the Steak ''n'' Sabre Like Trobarianders Don''t you understand that''s a different kind of world
I was swimming in Bali When I got swallowed By something hollow We were going down to a different kind of world
Where they talk like Plato And sweet potatoes growing all around in a different kind of world
Right down in the shallows And the wind it blows Don''t you know that''s a different kind of world

Posted - 02/27/2004 : 13:37:56 ahem - that last reply may have been construed as a useless one-liner. I actually meant it as an addition to Cabonga's theory rather than a corny joke.

One of the best from that album. I've noticed that he's swimming in Bali in this song, after being in Thailand some songs before (King and Queen of Siam), and dreaming of going back to Rome in the second song. Possible that FB has made this album after some globetrotting?

Posted - 02/25/2004 : 11:27:46 This is a wonderful song...especially the lyrics, because they paint some very interesting surreal imagery
The only problem I have w/ it is Frank's vocal raspiness in the "wooo-oorld" repetition. I mean, I have no problem w/ a screamy or jagged delivery of vocal lines, but it always sounds like he just had a really really bad sore throat that day and was pushing to hit the note or something...I don't know.
The song is still excellent though

Posted - 02/23/2004 : 08:57:26 the lyrics are great, and I think the screaming is really cool. I think the recording isn't that great, but remeber that it was a demo in the first place. A new nick vincent or stan ridgeway version would blow our minds
