I'm sure i'm reading too much into this, but...

http://www.avclub.com/articles/neutral-milk-hotel,38877/

Here, noted FB buddy Glen Hansard is playing a Takamine acoustic with a whole to the bottom-left of the sound hole - didn't FB's old Catholics live guitar, which i think was a Takamine, have a hole in the same spot?

Same guitar shared between friends? Or shitty construction for Takamines?

I typed "takamine, strum hole" into Google and stumbled across this http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-103490.html

Some insightful posts. Cedar wood and Urban Legends.

An interesting question!

FB had a cutaway Takamine too that was heavily worn away in the same place. Both of them were played on the Pixies reunion tours.
