I choose the Demo. Getting to hear Charles do his thing before anyone really knew what that was or what it would be is really cool in my opinion.
(I don't want to talk about the remixes)

93-03 has a live bonus disc which is pretty cool but that is still not enough for me to give up the Demo.

I just listened to the 30 second intros to that album, like the sound of those early demos! Not so sure about the FB stuff though, those trumpety sounds are a bit suspect.

i bought FBF when it came out, listened to it once and then never again. these threads have gotten me on a huge pixies kick, so i'll have to put this one in again.

Thanks. To be honest I never really paid much attention to that one, I thought it was just an ordinary compilation of FB and BF stuff. I'll have to get me a copy of that sometime...

It's the album called 'Frank Black Francis'. One disc had solo acoustic demos, the other has new recordings of Pixies songs by FB.

Absolutely. His playing is so expressive too. The FBF Demo is right up there. 93-03 is barely on the radar.

Definitely the Demo. Hearing Frank sing the different instruments is a real highlight for me, like Joey's guitar in Vamos becomes "bambaaaaaaw naaaaaaw aeeaaaaaw aeaaaaaaaw" (or something to that effect). I don't know why I like that so much, I just do.

It's also cool how he still demonstrates the loud quiet loud (or quiet loud quiet?) dynamics with just his voice and a guitar.

The live disc of 93-03 has some pretty good recordings on it, but I guess it's just that I've heard the songs so many times played with a full band it's not as special, whereas the acoustic demo is quite a one off.
