He sounds like he is recording all alone in a massive, empty, steel walled and floored room.
Such passion and aggression. The lyrics are straight to the point but also mysterious.
The drums are thumping hard and loud and joey adds that special lead guitar that only he can.
Fav Line:
"They come on like their peaceful but inside their so uptight"
"If all you've seen, is violence!" |

Posted - 05/31/2017 : 02:08:48 Tom Ravenscroft just played the Beach Boys version on radio 6. I didn't realise it was a cover! |

No idea why, just always liked it.
Gotta appreciate Joey on this song!
Link to the video. Worth three and a half minutes of anyone's day!

Who knows? I like the demo version he recorded when with the Pixies. Even though he, by his own admission, got a chord wrong.
Just one? heh.
I've always liked this song. Frank Black does the frickin' Beach Boys. A Frank Black classic in my book.
I don't have a favourite line =( because i like them all =)fb geek!

Posted - 08/24/2009 : 10:52:14 It takes balls to cover the mighty Beach Boys.
Took a while for this song to grow on me but it's been a favorite for a long time now.
I especially like the parts where Frank's voice gets all low and -- definitely - Joey's solo.
Joey's solos always rule.
I remember sitting in a basement listening to Fields of Marigold until I passed out.
