Hey

I am starting a new thread line which i will continually add to where we can all share our thoughts on franks songs.

Please include your thoughts and fave line from each song when i post them.
Thanks

Los Angeles......

Certaintly one of franks best songs.
It has one the best hard/thrash to beautiful , dreamy melody I have ever heard.
I love the production. Frank and Eric should bottle whatever they did to achieve that crisp clean hard acoustic sound they got for this record.
The outro is stunning, especially that little refrain of the guitar after frank says "no way".

Fave line:
"counting helicopters on a saturday night, the symphony of the fair light"
Magic.

I thought song oracle was a guy.

I remember sitting in a basement listening to Fields of Marigold until I passed out.

Good idea fbc. We could just send that collossal Los Angeles riff out into space. Sure to make some friends.

I was typing the exact same thing until I saw your post. I was 15. If they were to send one Frank song into space this one wouldn't be a bad choice. Rock the socks off Pluto for a few minutes. Quite intense in parts. It still gets me when the urge for some orange bites.

My favourite line too! It creates so much mental imagery for me every time I hear it.

Not the one in South California, they got one in South Patagonia.

Equal respect.

It's two songs in one - which is kind of cool. Has got some amazing transitions in it.

I have the key to #902

Lyrically, structure, production... it's a marvellous song.

Frank met a man. He was a dumbass. He asked if Los Angeles was a song about an insurance salesman.

One of Frank's best songs, certainly (one of his) best riffs. The acoustic version is compelling too (see Christmass DVD). Having teeny rockers miming in the video was genius.

Hearing Los Angeles the first time made me forget Pixies split.

I had been obsessed with the pixies for a while, but for some reason i never listened to his solo work. My brother was playing tony hawks and LA was playing, but i didnt know what it was. I went to the menu and was pleasantly surprised to figure it was frank black. I listened to it loads, and was determined to get a frank black album, so i went to my local HMV and got Teenager of the Year, because it was the only one they had. Six months later i had every frank black album.
