The last podcast (thanks Brian and Dean again!) mentioned tracks that don't stand out on the studio albums but come alive when played live.
I was lucky enough to see the Pixies several times both in first and second coming, but I never got to see FB and the Catholics. I've heard some great recordings, but I was wondering about everyone's opinion on which songs were really something live? |

...too many to list. Brussels and London on the last FB&C tour were unbelievably good. If you didn't see FB&Cs you have missed the best Charles Thompson live gigs (so far...)

i saw frank's band perform wave with pedal steel guitars once. that was pretty damn sweet. |

Man Of Steel from 1998 or so is another standout live performance IMO. |

It's possible he never played St. Francis with all of the Catholics; I think I read an interview somewhere that he couldn't remember the words. Or maybe a fan had requested it and that's why he said they wouldn't play it...maybe someone from the board that preceded this place. I don't even remember what that site was called.
I also recall someone (Scott, Frank) posting about playing The Adventure & the Resolution but I don't think they worked it out for the 2003 tour. I don't know if that's ever been played. The other day I listened to Black Letter Days and thought they should've done a tour for that album, playing more songs from it. As far as I know, 1826 was never performed live...it seemed like lots of songs weren't, from BLD nor Devil's Workshop. They did play Jane the Queen of Love quite a bit though. Good song but too bad they never busted out 1826.

i'm pretty sure he played it when i saw him at McCabes in Dec of 2000. Morris Tepper was there with bongo drums and a banjo and cool stuff like that . played llano del rio too

Oh I'm not a Frank Black bootleg expert. [Jimi Hendrix bootlegs/shows sure...] Just an expert on the shows I went to and recorded I know there are people here with lots more Frank shows than I have.
Anyway, did Frank ever play St. Francis Dam Disaster live? If so, who has a copy? For that matter how about 85 Weeks? I've heard Billy Radcliff live. Um, what are some other songs rarely played live?

And yes, I Want Rock N Roll melted my face several times, as well as Suffering. I also think Announcement is Franks most underrated song. |

I only ever say him at the acoustic london, ontario 2006 show, and his performance of Suffering opened my eyes to the greatness of that song. |

The one I remember most from the two times I saw him play with the Catholics is Steak n Sabre. I usually love a good woah-woah and Frank's woah-woahs that night probably increased my life expectancy two-fold.

"i want rock and roll" which melted my face, but then it was immediately followed by "nadine" and my skull and brains burst into flames.
that show was opened with "where is my mind," which i don't really ever need to hear again, but it rocked oh so hard. also, it was nice to just get that one out of the way.
