I think for myself it'd be don't get me wrong, with dead man's curve as a challenger.
Then again, i do love me some threshold... |

From what I decipher, the lyrics to Rabbit Hole are just perfect. One of Frank's most haunting and beautiful songs in years. Cannot wait until the NSE release. |

Posted - 05/12/2009 : 10:58:40 I know I'm being a bit dramatic. The man never rests, and to quote one of his lyrics, he's only stuck in this song for so long. I never saw the songs listed here coming. I was immersed in country-tinged Catholics and the Nashville Number System.
Virginia Reel, anyone? What a sound! Been and gone in a flash. An early Grand Duchy track. They should play it live. |

Posted - 05/12/2009 : 08:49:57 I think with Radio Lizards, Don't Get Me Wrong, Dead Mans Curve and Rabbit Hole- Frank is really onto something- an album with songs of that quality would easily be one of his best!
I personally like Frank when he is more experimental as opposed to the way Honeycomb, Fast-Man/Raider Man sound which can get kinda boring after awhile imo :O |

Posted - 05/10/2009 : 12:09:10 I like Discoteque 36, i think it has a nice melody, nice guitar work and sound, and an especially nice bridge. I do find the first verse lyrics weak, but the rest is fine lyric-wise. |

i agree that other than discotheque 36 Bluefinger is pretty much flawless. svn fngrs is basically perfect as well; i only wish it were longer. i like all the new stuff on Christmas and Petits Fours is awesome also. Mr and Mrs Francis are on a very consistent roll. they just need to release a double album. |

I second your choice. It's a tie between Lonesome Fetter and Don't Get me Wrong for me.
Funny to see that few people mention songs from Bluefinger. When it got released we thought it was the best thing ever, probably because it came after the Nashville era. I still think it's a great record, but I wouldn't rank it among his best.

"Can you hear me? I aint got shit to say."
Maybe it's just the scattershot nature of what he's been doing post-Nashville, not caring too much about albums and just releasing these little gems, as b-sides, on the internet, on the Christmass live album, etc.
Bluefinger has to be one of his most consistent records of the past years. Those first 7 songs are almost flawless. Damn you Discotheque 36. |
