Posted - 08/11/2007 : 02:59:17 Aside from the numerous takes on (yawn) Where Is My Mind I keep coming across, there arn't many cover versions of FB songs by well known artists. Considering his amazing body of work I find this surprizing. Who would you love to cover which song? Who do you think would come up with interesting/unusual/different versions?
How about, say, REM tackling All My Ghosts or Elvis Costello having a stab at In The Time Of My Ruin...? |

Posted - 09/06/2007 : 13:36:56 Well in a recent french interview or something supposedly Frank ssaid "fuck them" about the pixies cause of their not wanting to record and honestly if I was Frank I'd feel that way too.

Posted - 08/28/2007 : 13:56:40 i have played the holiday song a million times and recorded my own version.... i think frank black's songs are sort-of pointless to cover, unless the artist is doing it for themself.

Posted - 08/13/2007 : 17:10:10 I have a feeling that Elbow covering 'How You Went So Far' would be good to listen to.

Posted - 08/13/2007 : 16:12:43 I would love to hear a female jazz singer do "How You Went So Far" backed only by a piano. Almost since I first heard it, it struck me as something that someone like Annie Ross should be singing. |

It's 1969, okay. |

Posted - 08/12/2007 : 17:38:24 For Tom Waits, I'm thinking a 6/8 accordion/piano arrangement of Selkie Bride. (Innocent When You Dream/I'll Never Let Go Of Your Hand kinda thing) Or a trashcanny Nadine.
I think Bob Mould would sound great doing Dead Man's Curve.
David Thomas would make a meal of Parry The Wind High, Low and most likely find something interesting in the Rabbit Hole.
I'd like to hear Johnny Dowd do Nimrod's Son (a Butcher's Boy arrangement perhaps)
I Burn Today would sound great done by Eels.
Snfu could try Captain Pasty.
California Bound by Los Lobos.
Can I Get A Witness by the late Warren Zevon.
True Blue by the Late Great Daniel Johnston.
If ever Tenacious D do a cover album Superabound should be the title track (and side 2 of Abbey Road the hidden bonus track).
Reid Paley should sing Test Pilot Blues. (think an Anesthetist's Song take on "I don't wanna fa-A-A-ade away")
Van Morrison could do the songs that sound like him, like She's My way or If Your Poison Gets You.
Southbound Bevy would really suit the Stones. Preacher's Daughter too.
Man Of Steel by the Walkabouts.
Solid Gold by Judas Priest (if Rob can keep from shrieking nowadays).
I'd also like to hear a Dinosaur Jr take on, say, The Marsist or Fields Of Marigold. |

Posted - 08/11/2007 : 05:06:14 I think it would be interesting if Tom Waits covered a Frank song, but I have no idea which one would suit Waits best. |
