Posted - 07/10/2007 : 01:49:28 Well not quite, but there's many Frank songs that had never been recorded in studio. Some landed on official live recordings such as Peel or Black Sessions, Christmass, 93 - 03.
To name a few: The Jacques Tati (Peel + Black Session) Deadman's Curve (Christmass + 93 03) The Water (Christmass) Rabbit Hole (?)
Is that all?

Of course, there is the Teenage Fanclub Peel session version!

he once said that there would be enough catholics versions of Sister Isabelle that they could make a boxset. Honestly, I would buy that. Would be great.

Posted - 07/15/2007 : 07:43:10 21 reasons was also recorded for DITS but was left off. So Oddballs Came Out in 99 Snake Oil & One More Road for the Hit in 06. I Guess Every 6 or 7 years he can make an extra record or 2 with whats left over. |

Posted - 07/12/2007 : 01:48:01 Is there a new iTunes compilation in the works, or is this just wishful thinking? I haven't heard anything.
If so, I'd love to have the songs from the blackfrancis.net site. Dying to hear the rest of "Sweet Jesus." Plus, high-quality versions of "Deadman's Curve" and "Rabbit Hole" are sorely needed. |

Posted - 07/11/2007 : 13:11:35 A EDF studio recording of Gwayneashar and Radio Lizards would be nice too. She's My Way is great the way it is.
It'll be interesting to see what ends up on the iTunes EP. I hope Rock. Skank and History Song make it :) I'm not a big Damon Albarn fan, but FB does the song really well. |

Posted - 07/11/2007 : 06:48:18 I guess Rabbit Hole, Deadman's Curve and The Water will be on the EDF record. Or at least that's what I'm expecting... I think EDF's production would do miracles on those songs.

Posted - 07/11/2007 : 05:23:41 To classify a bit:
(N)Rc: (not) recorded (N)Rl: (not) released D/S/L: Demo/Studio/Live (or radio session) FB/C: Frank B or Cover
For example: Deadman's Curve: Rc/Rl/L/FB Rabbit Hole: NRc/NRl/L/FB Skip This Part:Rc/NRl/D/FB That Burnt Out RnR: Rc/Rl/L/C Rockafeller Skank Rc/NRl/L/C
quote: I would die for a studio version of The Rockafeller Skank
I won't this one is fun live, but I tend to consider it as a teenage band joke.
I can understand he doesn't record most of covers (let's pretend it's a live extra) or at least doesn't put them on official albums. The most intriguing is those unrecorded original songs, Rabbit and Deadman are so awesome. They didn't fit on Bluefinger but I hope they'll be once something like, at least, One More Road For The Hit (even if it doesn't do justice to songs like Pan American Highway)

How about those songs from blackfrancis.net? "Skip This Part", "Get Away Oil", etc...
You're probably right about Duke of Earl, I didn't know that was an official release.
Get Away Oil is on the Threshold Apprehension single.

And I remember someone discovered from the MOG called "El Rey de Hawaii"
Maybe they'll make the next iTunes album ala Snake Oil.
Cool thread.

Posted - 07/11/2007 : 04:11:42 Two more unreleased songs: the ones Frank wrote for "Shreck 2" and "The Low-Budget Time Machine" (if my memory's correct its title is "My Name Is Gary").
