Yesterday after work I was driving through a 10 mile canyon called Carbon Canyon...it connects San Bernardino county with Orange County here in Southern Cali. Anyway, I was on my way to rehearsal, had the top down, speeding through these winding curves, only car on the road, and was harmonizing at the top of my lungs with Frank on the CHRISTMASS live version of Six Sixty Six. Beautiful.

I don't drive, but I'm sure that Thalassocracy or the Yellow album would be just fine during a nice car ride in a hot summer weather

My lovely boyfriend (Mikaelp75) wooed me with FB car mixtapes for every occasion when he first moved here from Sweden. Particularly in our early days they were the soundtrack to my bi-monthly drive to and from Stansted airport whenever he went back to Sweden for band practice.
For driving home alone as dawn is breaking I love the Black Session in pretty much its entirety.... Abstract Plain somehow suits up all night melancholy (while keeping you awake) and I always try to time it so Old Black Dawning is my soundtrack as I cross the Queen Elizabeth Bridge at Dartford about 5.30 am (obvious as it seems!)

I love blew a couple of speakers while listening 'i switched you'.....while i wasn't driving exactly, i was obviously in my car. the story is basically this.....i was at a wedding reception and getting nice and loaded, and wasn't exactly into the wedding reception music....so a friend and i went out to my car to hear some real music and i turned it up way too loud. never had enough $ to get it fixed so i was screwed for like 3 years until i ended up totalling the car completely one night. |

I think Surfer Rosa is the perfect CD to get your blood pumping in the mornings, especially if you scream when he screams. I listen to it in the morning quite a bit. I know people think I am nuts screaming Tame and Dead. I would probably laugh at me, too.

Pan American Highway and Man Of Steel are excellent picks I thought I'd add. They are the quintessential FB road songs. They are hypnotic and very passionate, something FB fans are keen on.

Man of Steel and Motorway to Roswell are very hard to beat for late night driving. (It's in the lyrics, innit?) Man Of Steel reminds me of one of my earliest memories; lying in the backseat of my parents' car driving home through the woods after a family gathering trying to sleep when I see a gigantic concrete coloured, saucer shaped thingy hover over the trees. I smiled, fell asleep and dreamed of being a Jedi or something like that. I later found out that it was the top of a mushroom shaped water tower. But there is a place... |

Agreed. Should've elaborated there. End of Miles is a nice one for long distance sleeper trains or buses across China. looking out at the wilderness or passing through a small town.Also remember one particular journey in a minbus on a summers day in Harbin.
Last summer spent a 42 hour train ride without a walkman / Ipod- that's a real kiler. |

Growing up in the south and being a redneck is two different things.
They were driving a truck with over sized tires and lights all over the top of the truck. The looked like they could have been chewing tobacco. Redneck was the only word I could think of to describe them.
Driving a truck with over sized tires is fine for going mudding. Mudding is also a past time typical of good ole country boys, if you prefer that term over redneck. Some rednecks like being referred to as rednecks. Oh, another characteristic is the Rebel flag. I don't know if they do this anywhere else, but if you see the Rebel flag on the their vehicle then it is safe to assume they are rednecks.
When I think of good ole country boys, I think about the Dukes of Hazzard.
They never would have yelled out their window of the General Lee telling a woman to "turn that shit off."
Wait...I have to rethink my whole concept of a good ole country boy. The General Lee does have a Rebel flag painted on it.

one of them yelled out the window "turn that shit off." They were cowards for waiting to

hey rocknfire is back!
i've had many but this is a good one. back in 95 or so i was driving to work at 8:00 am on a saturday morning. i had toty cranked and was bopping my head and singing. so i get to a red light and turned my head and a buddy of mine was in the next car. he looked at me and was laughing hysterically. he gave me one of those looks like what drug are you on? i was on a toty high!
