Anyone?

I have some radio bootleg where he's playing the song, and as he's playing the chords, he's teasing the interviewer girl, asking "Do you know what this song's about?" and she keeps going "umm...no?" and he goes "Come on, take a guess"

She goes "...is it about you?"

and he goes "It's not about me"

And then he just finishes the song.

Anyone know? I'm assuming it's about some specific person, like many of his songs are...

I allways thought he was talking to a journalist.
Some kinda FB's "Paperback Writer"???
Very good song (it could have been on Cult of Ray, but I maybe it was too close to "Punk Rock City")

Hey, Jordy.I just guessed it was about Buffett. The lyrics seem to fit. But I could be wrong. I don't even know if Frank Black likes or respects him...I'm surprised the FB fanatics don't have an answer yet, because I'd like to know.

I had heard nobody singing
And I had heard no rock n' roll
It was the kind of my upbringing
That's right
Now maybe you will see
You never heard about me
About me

Well you can write a novel
And you can theorize
You can want me something awful
That's right
Money-back guarantee
You never heard about me
About me

Well I heard nobody singing
And I heard no rock n' roll
And I do not get the meaning
That's right
Absolutely definitely
You never ever heard about me
About me

oh god it's about u.f.o.s!

I don't know what or who the song is about, though it is one of my favourite b-sides.

Jordy - Sorry I don't know anything about the song you are talking about.

But, I like how he talks in that one recording of Calistan.

Maybe I will grin but I won’t bear

>>I always assumed it was sort of like Frank going "Hey, I deserve some kudos, nothing wrong with that!"<<

You assume wrong Carl, cause Frank said it's not about him.

It's just about one of my favorite Frank Black songs ever.

Spot-on, pitch-perfect - just the way it seems it should be.

That's probably not the type of answer you were looking for.
