Maybe you will happen to stop by and read this….if not hopefully a few fans will get a chuckle….

My name is fumanbru. I’m a really big fan of your music! I’m 35 and live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada with my lovely wife and beautiful daughter. I’ve had the absolute pleasure of speaking with you on a couple of occasions- once in Winnipeg when you were touring with the Catholics and the other in Saskatoon on your tour bus last fall. I’m eagerly anticipating getting official copies of the new Best of and Bluefinger! My father-in-law is Dutch and I have been impressing him with my new found knowledge of Herman Brood!

So anyways, I was reading my little girl the “The Hockey Sweater”- a favorite childhood book of mine. (And I may have mentioned this a few times before but it is worth repeating. Little fu was in fact born the same date as your son Jack Thompson- Jan.7, 2005! What a great day!). So anyways I’m reading this classic Canadian story….if you haven’t read it you should really check it out! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hockey_Sweater)
…And I got this revelation!

A true gift from the heavens! On a really small scale it may possibly be compared to the inspiration you received from Herman Brood that was then channeled into the best album in the history of rock music---BLUEFINGER!!. What was my idea? I need a new Black Francis/Herman Brood t shirt!! Yes!! Mrs. fu has been complaining lately saying that my 2 Frank Black shirts and Pixies Sellout shirt are really wearing thin. As far as I know you may be 10 steps ahead of me. You are a pioneer. But anyways, if I may, I have a few ideas. I know your step son, Julian, is a talented artist. I really dig his cover art work for the I Burn Today single. Maybe he could use some of this Herman Brood inspiration and give his artistic impression of Herman’s artwork and channel that into a Black Francis Bluefinger tour shirt! Or print some of Herman’s art on Black Francis Bluefinger shirts!! I’d order lots!! Seriously! I’d have all my Christmas shopping done! Or maybe you could even hire some people to do custom made Black Francis shirts for forum members and uberfans. I’m a huge hockey fan so maybe you could do a rock/sports shirt. Have our forum names on the back with a number! I got dibs on number 7!! My little girl was born on Jan.7, weighing in at 7 pounds, 7 ounces, at 11:17 am!!. So those a just a few silly ideas.

Anyways, I read the Salem, Oregon tour reviews and am really blown away! Love the setlist….lots of Bluefinger and Rockefeller Skank! Brilliant!! Have a fantastic tour. Maybe if you have time you’ll do a few North American dates in the fall or winter. Look forward to seeing you play again sometime. All the best to you and your family and friends.

Fu

P.S. To any fans out there who are somewhat computer fluent. Please check out this thread (http://forum.frankblack.net/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=18029) and post a message or send me a private message if you have any ideas. I still can’t post on the forum from my home computer. Dean says I haven't been locked for lame posts. I’ve used spywear and Microsoft Defender, unplugged everything, kicked my computer and still no luck. Thanks.

Hockey: UK = Cricket: North America

We've heard of it, but it's very mysterious and we don't understand the weird outfits....

this is from the wiki link....

"The Hockey Sweater" ("Le chandail de hockey" in the original French) is a short story published in 1979 by Quebec author Roch Carrier.

Though a relatively recent story, it has become one of the best-known works of literature in Canada. It was made into a National Film Board of Canada (NFB) animated short in 1980, known as The Sweater, or Le Chandail. The short is often shown, in both French and English, to elementary school students, making it very well known amongst Canadian youth.

The story is widely considered an allegory for the linguistic and cultural tensions between anglophone and francophone Canadians, and an essential classic of Canadian literature. An excerpt from the story is now also commemorated in both official languages of Canada on the back of the Canadian five-dollar bill.

Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.

"The Hockey Sweater" is based on the real experience of Carrier growing up in an isolated part of Quebec in the 1940s. He, like all boys his age, was a big fan of the Montreal Canadiens and their star player, Maurice "The Rocket" Richard.

When Carrier's Montreal Canadiens hockey sweater wears out, his mother writes to Eaton's to order a new one. Unfortunately, the company sends a Toronto Maple Leafs sweater, the Canadiens' bitter rivals. A loyal fan of Les Habitants, Carrier protests having to wear the new sweater. But his mother refuses to let her son wear the old worn out sweater and, apparently unaware of the business's traditional policy they advertised, "Goods satisfactory, or money refunded", insists that if they were to return the sweater it may offend Mr. Eaton, himself a Leafs fan. As a result, young Carrier is forced to wear the Leafs sweater to his hockey game, feeling humiliated before the other players on the ice, each proudly wearing Canadiens sweaters.

$5 bill featuring an excerpt from "The Hockey Sweater". You pretty much need a magnifying glass to read. The quote from the book is on left hand side beside the little boy tobogganing ..."The winters of my childhood were long, long seasons. We lived in three places- the school, the church, and the skating rink- but our real life was on the skating rink." Roch Carrier

You know what, Fu? I was thinking the same thing. I want a Bluefinger T-shirt as well with "Czar" in the back. Let's join forces.
