I've always been one behind on the albums; I need to buy the new one before I start fully appreciating the last one. Bluefinger doesn't fit that bill, I can't stop listening to it - is it the Solo Frank Black Peak?
Admitidly cynical view but... |

Posted - 05/04/2007 : 14:53:47 People with no duds behind them dont hit a peak and then dive. They just keep doing it. Nick Cave's another with this seeming gift. Bluefinger's as good as all the others no?
I love two-track and I love the vocal layers on Bluefinger. He just can't dissapoint.

Posted - 05/03/2007 : 08:21:28 I had a dream once where FB was playing in an airport cafe. He was much older sometime in the future (possibly 2020). Maybe that might have been his peak.Just thought of cool FB topic: FB Dreams. How lodged in your psyche is he? |

For me I am getting a sense of instant gratification from BF reminiscent of TOTY or SMYT. I have been really excited about the fact that Frank has relaxed the whole 'live to two track ethos' and the thought of Feldman holed up somewhere working his magic on another bunch of Frank songs gives me the shivers.
I'm also pleased the live to two track seems to be a thing of the past. Frank's vocals are fantastic, and some of the layers of vocals and backing vocals he does are supreme, I've missed them! Trompe and his debut solo album and TOTY are great examples of this. More vocal layers Frank!

Posted - 05/02/2007 : 18:28:32 For me it's not the solo peak. That's not to say i think it's a bad album, far from it! (though it did take some time to get into for me) But i still like several of his other records better (FB,TOTY,COR,DW,SMYT). Who knows, maybe a year from now i will like it more, but for now i think i have gotten over the 'new record buzz' a little.
Still listen to tracks from it almost daily mind you! |
