From TP “Through the darkness of future past, the magician longs to see, one chance out between two worlds, fire walk with me”
It's probably no more a Twin Peaks reference than the Moody Blues' use of the phrase (in 1967) is a Twin Peaks reference.
"Future past" is a phrase often used to describe old, dated visions of the future. Like in 1930, someone might've visualized everyone in 2007 driving in flying cars and going on vacation to Jupiter and having robot servants. |

Speaking of "Twin Peaks" references in Frank Black songs...
I was recently watching some of the interviews on the Season 1 set. Wendy Robie, who played Nadine, was discussing her audition. She said as she was leaving the room after the audition, David Lynch was overheard to say, "There goes Nadine."
Ah yeah. It's been there this whole time only I couldn't get at it. Thanks for the dislodge. Wendy Robie was dressed in black for that interview I now recall. So Nadine's the name of the girl who was meant to be.

I just got season 2 since it finally came to DVD, so I'm gonna rewatch the whole series starting tonight.
After seeing how he worked in little snippets like "It's amazing, it works!" I'm inclined to think it's not a coincidence. Maybe the song has nothing to do with Twin Peaks or the character on theshow, but it might have been the impetus to write a sing about "Nadine"
I know Bob Pollard would write a song a day about some random thing that happened to him during the day, like seeing something funny in a want-ad or overhearing a conversation, and just make up a song about it.

Sweet. I wish I wouldn't have deleted the leaked copy of Bluefinger off my computer, but I felt weird listening to it.

Posted - 04/10/2007 : 17:01:30 That's pretty cool. Seems totally coincidental, but it catches your ear nonetheless.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

So Herman Brood is the Owl or Bob in this scenario?
