So many to choose from. And while my favorite can and does change from day to day,and hour to hour I'd currently have to with "Space is Gonna Do Me Good". It's just a perfect blend of lyrics, great shifting chords, a simple yet emotional guitar solo, and a strange horn section that fits in seamlessly. Let the argument begin.

How lucky you are to be fresh on TOTY.

I would have to say Thalassocracy or Speedy Marie. Thal is pretty much the reason I put the CD in, and in some ways the reason I listen to music.

But Speedy Marie enlarges my heart 5 times and makes me want to cry.

Yet another vote for Speedy Marie. The second half of that song contains what may be my favorite Frank Black lyrics.

Come on, everybody, sing along with me now: "Juxtaposed..."

I second that.

This is just to hard. If I had to pick today it would be White Noise Maker. Tomorrow who knows?

Thalassocracy but it's only Monday. How'd I even make it to track 2? Oh and Fiddle Riddle coulda been a hit song for Charles, anyone think? It's got that eighties hit single feel. With a funny video who knows what might've been.

Ok, sorry to say I haven't heard the entire albulm. I plan on doing so soon. Real soon. But I have to say from the songs I have heard it would be a hard decision to make. Speedy Marie will have to be up there at the top or close to it.

I could vote off one or two songs from TOTY, though. Pure Denizen, uh... I Could Stay Here Forever... uh... ah fuck it, I love them all.

I can't say wich is the best or the worst. I love this album so much. Each time I think of one song off, I found myself thinking how great it is.
vilainde Posted - 03/26/2007 : 04:16:29
Olé Mulholland.
I was thinking the other day about what the tracklist for the Best of FB would be, and while you can quite easily select 1 or 2 standout tracks for most of his records, it's downright impossible to do it with TOTY. I'd put half the album on that compilation.

I love the way he uses 1950s cliches in that song. Like I love Lucy warning Junior that if he doesn't get to bed this instant there'll be heck to pay. That's an order young man! When he also means like a celestial order. So cool. Plus the drum rumble intro gets me every time. And is that Joey on guitar? Sublime. I bet it'd be one of David Lynch's favourites if he was a fan. I dunno. Is he a fan?

This is hard.
Um, maybe Superabound. Or Thallasocracy. Or Calistan.

Oh, never mind.

why do people put more than one song down for these threads? It's not so hard. You can hear one song from TOTY before you die. Which one will it be?

Fine Mr. Bossy, Calistan!

It's like the potato-chip commercial (Lays?). It's hard to eat just one. My picks:

Fiddle Riddle
Two Reelers

Grand Marnier and a pocketful of speed. We did it all day until we started to bleed.
