Posted - 01/05/2007 : 16:37:44 I think that qualifies not only as misheard lyric - but also a crackpot theory
I'll probably be singing "I've been surfing" now every time I hear it
that's great - "I've been SURFING!!" - I think the man himself would approve
this is one of those tunes - like a few others - that didn't grab me until I heard it live - then it sunk in. "I'm not Dead I'm in Pittsburgh" was like that.
And for all you naysayers about Honeycomb, many of those tunes are the same way - just take a listen to the solo acoustic version of "My Life Is In Storage" - and make sure your buddies are there to see it - cuz you just might get converted!! |

Is that a real poncho or is that a Sears poncho? |

Posted - 01/05/2007 : 07:01:52 I heard about your happiness And all the plans that you're involved in Since you're gone you'd be impressed To know I, too, have been evolving But I don't think you comprehend
I've been surfing Yeah, I've been surfing Guess I'll be surfing up along the wave
This board is a part of me I can feel the advancing sea This ride it is the light of my world Well, I found me a new friend
I've been surfing Yeah, I've been surfing Guess I'll be surfing up along the wave
I hung around in a surfer bar They threw me on the cement Slept all night under the stars Until the tide came in
I brushed by you in the supermart And I had me a touch of what's real It was real when you crushed me with your steel
Black surf rolls into land Who says anyway these squalls are hurting? I am a surfer of the lethal kind So keep away, this board is thirsting No, I don't think that it's the end of this surfing
I been surfin' I been surfin' And I'll be surfing Up along the wave
"Now you're officially my woman. Kudos. I can't say I don't envy you." |

Posted - 01/04/2007 : 18:41:28 I'm pretty sure you are refering to "Suffering," with its chorus of "i've been suffering/i've been suffering/i've been suffering/up around the bend." Its on the self titled Frank Black and the Catholics album.
