Posted - 12/19/2006 : 21:01:02 I am trying to replace a collection of Pixies CDs for a friend. She said she had 13, but do not know which ones. Looks like there are more than 13. Unfortunately, i am not that familiar with this band and need some help. What would be an essential Pixies collection for a true fan? Especially loves Kim Deal. Any imports that are special? DVDs? Which ones would I buy first or what would the ranking if could only choose the top 10 or so? Thanks a bunch for all your help! |

I agree with all the advices, but the collection will be complete with the best bootleg: Rough Diamonds, that have many b sides and alternate version "normal" songs.

rough diamonds is actually a collection of all of their bbc tracks plus a few other sessions tracks and bits and pieces. so the official bbc disc should have looked almost exactly like rough diamonds except they left a shitload off.

Posted - 12/20/2006 : 02:53:24 13? All you really need are the 4 main studio albums, the Pixies demoish album, Complete B Sides, Live at the BBC and if you can get the 2 disc version of the original best of album there is a good live show on disc 2. There are loads of live shows from the reunion tour and a few DVD's that are pretty good too, Pixies, Pixies Sell Out and loudQUIETloud and I think a DVD of their acoustic gig.
Edit: Unless you mean Frank Black solo stuff too.
