...even when he's bad, he's still pretty damn good.

But, if you HAD to choose your least favorite album by Frank, which is it? (Pixies albums not included)

My choice is probably a common one, "The Cult of Ray".

My apologies if this topic has been done ad nausium.

Well, I like to put it into Gulf.
Well I put my money in my mattress.
Well, I put my money in my wallet.
You're boring me!
I'm crushing your head!"

honeycomb, although it has some great, great songs. need to listen to again. cor is incredibly wonderful and is a "grower" not a show-er.

Black Letter Days is my least favourite, it's still pretty good though.

Cult of Ray is magnificent!

"The arc of triumph"

at least that's what your mom said

the things i don't like about honeycomb:

- 3 cover songs
- the sound, the arrangements are too smooth for me
- besides the title track & atom in my heart, the songs get a bit boring after a few listens. even the lyrically & emotionally brilliant "i burn today" is very monotonic
- the producer let too much space for the additional musicians. i mean, i never listened to FB songs because of a guitar solo. lyle workman played additional fantastic short guitar, but it fitted the songs better since they were not so dominant (or maybo just so short, like on thallasocracy). rich g. on the other hand, played almost no solos to remember, but his way of guitar playing adapted to FB songs perfectly.

I joined the cult of Souled American / 'cause they are a damn' fine band

Wow, Honeycomb is pretty unpopular, I think it's fantastic.
The Holiday Son Posted - 10/22/2006 : 11:58:13
honeycomb, by far.

honeycomb

COR is great, really great. i can't understand why people dislike it. it is rocking, it is clever, it is playful, it is tight & straight, and it has LYLE WORKMAN as no other album has him.

Devil's Workshop just because I listen to that the least

Honeycomb would be my choice, though I still LIKE Honeycomb. I just had an out of body Cult of Ray experience just now...listening to several of the songs and marvelling at them. It was my least favorite album for a long time, because I was so disappointed expecting him to trump TOTY with his next album, and not having it happen. Still, I think it is beautiful stuff now.

I'd rather be anywhere or doing anything

Fast Man Raider Man. Hands down.

Don't get me wrong, I like Cult of Ray fine. I just find it to be weaker than any of Frank's other solo albums, which is a credit to the high quality music the man produces...

COR rocks & rules!

revisit The Cult of Ray. Play it in your car or on the train over and over, and then you might come to realize how rockin' that record is.
