Posted - 09/27/2006 : 10:49:36 I didn't see any posts about this but it was on the site news, just so you know you can now get these two previously itunes exclusives on emusic.com for those of us without itunes, plus better quality and no DRM. As an added bonus they also have a 25 track free trial. The only downside is that for some reason they don't have track 8 of Snake Oil (which is Snake Oil) for reasons I can't work out. I'm going to email then and ask why but in the mean time, have at it.

Posted - 09/28/2006 : 07:23:21 Ah, he's right. Those links are supposed to bring you to the albums but they seem to stop at a "25 free downloads" page if you're not an eMusic member. Or at least I assume because they worked when I added them but from this computer no dice. Sorry, will see if there's a way to link directly for non-members, too.

Posted - 09/27/2006 : 11:10:39 Yeah, I love that there's no DRM and I can actually, you know, do what I want with music I buy instead of being treated like a criminal or locked in to something proprietary. Plus, as he said, you get 25 free songs if you're a new eMusic member, so you can basically download these both free (I assume FB still gets paid, they just hope you like the service enough that you stay with it):
Snake Oil (eMusic)
One More Road for the Hit (eMusic)
[EDIT - Fixed links]

Posted - 09/27/2006 : 10:51:31 My guess would be that since the actual songwriter is unknown and it is licensed under 'copyright control' or something of the like that there is a financial issue at play. On the upside, "Snake Oil" is still available on the Cooking Vinyl "Nadine" single, and perhaps if there is a financial dispute, we can finally learn who wrote that song!
