Posted - 09/10/2006 : 20:28:04 Just listened to these again for the first time in a few years; forgot I had them buried on my hard drive. And man, are they ever good. They sound, overall, more like solo Frank than the Pixies, I'd say, especially "Keeping in Time".
Imagine what modern day recordings of these would sound like...
Does anyone know how these tracks ever leaked, by the way?
And who's the woman talking to Frank before "Silhouette" (and singing, I think)? Hah, it reminds me a lot of Daniel Johnston's mother hanging around while he was recording his early work. Only she didn't join in with him.

Posted - 11/03/2006 : 16:09:48 Excitement! I have been listening to these and my train of thought has been as follows;
Oh wow I can just imagine the 20-year-old CT singing this in by bedroom, IN MY BEDROOOM, he's here oh shit wow that's the prototype scream, not fully formed yet, bet his friends took the mickey and said it sounded silly, hahaha he showed them, **bugger me** there's a typical pixies chord progression, OH MY WORD THE INTRO TO GEMIMNI IS BASICALLY UNDERNEATH THE BRIDGE BY NIRVANA BUT 8 YEARS TOO EARLY I can just imagine Kim's stinging bass and Dave's metronomic drumming ticking under this song SILHOETTE JUST CAME ON BOLLOCKS WHAT A SONG THIS IS THE BEST PIXIES TRACK NEVER RECORDED MANTA RAY CROSSED WITH SANTO WISH IT WAS GOING ON FOR LONGERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Anyway, WOW!!! Thanks a zillion, Jedi! ...Better version of the ones I have plus TWO MORE!!!
And you guys are right-on, these songs are simply wonderful. Seriously. Very neat, indeed.
Anyone know (guess) what he was listening to / influenced by when he recorded these? ...might help w/ context.

Posted - 09/11/2006 : 13:50:47 Funny 'cause he says they're crappy songs, I think, but one of 'em is basically "Here Comes Your (Young) Man." Not one of my Pixies faves; maybe not one of his?
