..Frank, and the boys who helped record it in Houston :)

Cult_Of_Frank Posted - 11/24/2006 : 14:34:44
Yeah, I heard him say that too and meant to mention it. Don't know, he may just be messing with it live. That said, it hasn't been recorded, so who knows what the definitive version is...

"Now you're officially my woman. Kudos. I can't say I don't envy you."
Llamadance Posted - 11/24/2006 : 13:25:51
I've just been listening to this from the live boots. Has Frank changed the last line to 'it means everything' rather than 'means nothing to me'. Or are they interchangeable?

I noticed the change between Southpaw and Sokol Underground.

Yeah, the covers before the original!
But it's not too bad for Frank to make his songs wait a while: ear Selkie Bride, Dog In The Sand, Modern Age... those long waited songs grew better like a good wine...
speedy_m Posted - 09/15/2006 : 09:17:28
What the hell is Franck so busy with? Get to recording, mister.

Oh, and if they "busy" involves Joe, Kim and Dave, then by all means, toil away. He require my permission for such things, you see.

Hey Scott, in the mean time you can play Deadman Curve's your self on your very own six stringed instrument! How you ask? The miracle of tablature, the marvel that is the internet and the wonder that is forum member speedy_m. Donations are appreciated.

That's cool. I thought maybe the whole project had been ditched.
Cult_Of_Frank Posted - 09/15/2006 : 08:13:10
Just that both EDF and FB are busy for the next while...

Scott, from what I've heard, it doesn't sound like we'll be hearing the real thing anytime soon...

Have The Two Pale Boys given unreleased music the treatment before? I don't even know who they are.

They produced disc 2 of Frank Black Francis

That would be fun to do. Just see who can add what to the song, although it's a small heresy to do so.

Thank you so much adding this to the podcast. I can't stop listening to it.

I caught myself singing this first thing in the morning today and it made me realize how catchy Frank's songs really are. He never stops. :)

two reelers Posted - 09/14/2006 : 01:22:59
indeed, a brilliant song. definitely among his bests. ya, it is like the brother of "suffering". but much more catchy.

I joined the cult of Souled American / 'cause they are a damn' fine band
Grotesque Posted - 09/11/2006 : 06:42:29
If some of you have a multitrack and want to do like the two pale boys...
Remember: first it was just him and his guitar...
That would be a funny podcast contest but I guess it would'nt be very showbusinessly correct.
Mickey Posted - 09/10/2006 : 22:18:54
it's a shame this song isn't going to be recorded by the Catholics, still I think this has the potential to be Frank's best track ever. The first time I heard it I was absolutley floored (I can be heard very loudly yelling "YEAH" on Scruvs' now legendary Cafe Du Nord video). So angry.

sounds good to me
pixiestu Posted - 09/09/2006 : 10:25:05
I've been playing it something like this, not sure how accurate it is though. Probably not very.

C Am
maybe I'll kick it
C E F
though it's so sweet, honey
                Am F
been up on the mountain
                Am
with nothing to eat

C (G#) G
the boy's so lonely
                   (G#) Am
the nights so cold
                        F E
everything is so (meek?)
                 F
it's getting so old

The G# I play is just the bass note not the whole chord.

Oh and I play C as:

      -0-
      -1-
      -0-
      -2-
      -3-
      -3-
Brank_Flack Posted - 09/09/2006 : 09:48:07

I knew somebody from the cult of Announcement would appear there!
But that nevereding repetitive angry drum could be better isn't it? Keith had a free and crazy style, not a copy and paste kinda play.
Well anyway imagine the same ground breaking drums on Deadman's Curve all way long, it would be really boring. We'll see...

It's hard to imagine what rythm they will put on it. It's quite a defy for a producer, good luck EDF !!!
It sounds like a WHO song, and the Who style is hard to arrange (remember the boring fake Keith Moon on Annoucement?)
mixedbizz Posted - 09/04/2006 : 08:57:38
i listened to it a couple more times. definitley "crown of thorns".
theonecontender Posted - 09/04/2006 : 08:52:45
awesome song... although it's not as good as it's counterpart - suffering.

As a side note - that tune has gotta start getting some props after he played it on the tour. I mean, COME ON!
mr.biscuitdoughhead Posted - 09/03/2006 : 10:04:36
Could be...I'll have to listen to it again.

I just heard it. It's awesome! Are these new songs? They sound like they were around DITS, maybe.

btw, the ??? in the lyrics sounds like "herbivores" but that doesn't make any sense. Or something "remorse". That might be it.

maybe I'll kick it
though it's so sweet, honey
been up on the mountain
with nothing to eat

oh maybe i'll kick it
then i will be free darlin
i got me a ticket
it mean's nothing to me

the boy's so lonely
the nights so cold
everything is so (meek?)
it's getting so old

or maybe i'll kick it
then i'll be free darlin
i got me a ticket
mean's nothing to me

oh its so sweet

i've seen the lights on the valley
from dead man's curve
down lover's alley
i never lost my nerve
and when the day is born
i see the smoke on the town
and my ???
is when i'm going down

oh maybe I'll kick it
though it's so sweet, honey
been up on the mountain
with nothing to eat

oh maybe i'll kick it
then i'll be free darlin
got me a ticket
mean's nothing to me
mixedbizz Posted - 09/01/2006 : 14:50:23
Is it just me or is this song about heroin? I could be taking the lyrics to literally ie "maybe i'll kick it". Regardless it's a beautiful song.

The Water is awesome! It reminds me of St. Francis Dam Disaster, sort of. I'd have to look at the lyrics to compare.

btw, is anyone writing down the lyrics to these songs, 'cause I could try by watching the videos. I've always wanted to give the lyrics for an FB song.
