Goin out to llano
Gonna look for aldous huxley
Inbetween the powerlines
And the purple flowers of mescaline

bored. thought i'd post that. curious as to whether frank trips or if he's just writing stuff. I know he did mushrooms at least once. His Kingly Cave...

All he needs to do now is make a reference to LSD or DMT, then i'll be convinced he is still tripping.

This is pretty pointless.

Not many musicians would go out on tour a month after releasing a double album of new material and proceed to play a 26-song set with only one track representing the latest record. BUT NOBODY EVER SAID FRANK BLACK WAS AN AVERAGE MUSICIAN.

I have seen the face of God
And I was not afraid
I have seen theface of God
And I have dearly paid

The darkness came right down on me
There were no more lights to follow
So I slept inside the hollow
Of a dead and fallen tree

you were supposed to be hanging on to it; then you would not have suffered its loss.

Sorry that's confusing....no its not my sig. Its the words to "hang on to Your Ego" written by Brian Wilson covered by Frank Black (on Frank Black-Frank Black 1993).
Its just the full words to a song we've been discussing on this thread.

HANG ON TO YOUR EGO
I know so many people who think they can do it alone
They isolate their heads and stay in their saftey zones
Now what can you tell them
And what can you say that won't make them defensive
Hang on to your ego
Hang on, but I know that you're gonna lose the fight
They come on like their peaceful
But inside they're so uptight
They trip through the day
And waste all their thoughts at night
Now how can I say it
And how can I come on
When I know I'm guilty
Hang on to your ego
Hang on, but I know that you're gonna lose the fight
Now how can I say it
And how can I come on
When I know I'm guilty
So hang on to your ego
Hang on, but I know that you're gonna lose the fight

Excellent, excellent book. No doubt one of, if not THE single most important novel of the twentieth century.

Of course, Mr. Huxley, though a proponent of psychedelics, was completely against the then widespread misuse and abuse of them. He even said (back when LSD was legal) that people should not use psychedelics without the knowledge and consent of their doctor. He was a friend of Timothy Leary's but despised his methods and openly called him an "idiot." I don't mean to go off on a rant, it's just that so many people view Aldous Huxley as this psychedelic hippie "prohpet"-figure, when he absolutely was not and did not want to be viewed as such.
