Has anyone figured out the lyrics to "Rabbit Song," which is on the recent Cafe du Nord recording? If I'm not mistaken (and I usually am), some of it appears to be in another language.

I couldn't see the rabbits /
hiding out of view /
Nay-ga-bye /
Nay-due /
I couldn't see the rabbits /
hiding out of view

WTF?

not sure if the screaming is Tom Waits-ish, but I do love the screaming.

it's exciting isn't it. these and more songs are out there ready for recording. the best thing about Frank is always what's around the corner.

i love this song and Dead Man's Curve from that performance. it it only me who thinks he sounds kind of screaming Tom Waits-ish on Dead Man's Curve?

Sounds good. English, indeed, though very old, like you say, fbc. The other great thing about this performance is the way he sings "There is a hole / For every soul." I can't remember him being all Joe Cocker-y like that before.

I think this was what some forum minds came up with:

We rode along
The fields of green
I didn’t know it was my last scene
ne'er goodbye, nay adieu
I couldn’t see the rabbits hiding out of view

Maybe light caught in my eye
an' we were thrown into the wild ride
I hope you know
My love was true
I couldn’t see the rabbits hiding out of view

There is a hole
For every soul
I slipped right through
I couldn’t see the rabbits hiding out of view
ne'er goodbye, nay adieu
I couldn’t see the rabbits hiding out of you

Maybe light caught in my eye
an' we were thrown into the wild ride
I hope you know
My love was true
I couldn’t see the rabbits hiding out of view
