sounds like another frank black song but i cant seem to place it. is it just me or does it sound similar to another song? maybe its just that catchiness of it reminds me of another tune. such an awesome song.

I haven't managed to hear Elijah yet - that song keeps skipping on my cd - but if it sounds like all of these songs at the same time it must be a work of genius.

Easy, there! ;)

To me, elijah sounds like a song on FMRM

...And if I'm right, the urban plight is not the problem.

It sounds a lot like Seals and Croft's awesome song "Summer Breeze" to me. Or maybe a little bit like "All For You" by the great Sister Hazel!

A friend of mine (and fellow FB fan) listened to FMRM for the first time yesterday and when Elijah came on he asked me "What kind of version is that??", thinking we were listening to some fucked up new version of Humboldt County Massacre. That was fun.

Oh, and speaking about soundalike songs, I recently noticed how New House Of The Pope sounds an awful lot like Dylan's "Ballad Of A Thin Man".

Elijah sounds familiar because it sounds exactly like Elvis Costello's, "Angels Wanna Wear My Red Shoes".
I too, agree on the "I'm Not Dead"/"Horrible Day" connection, but think I'm not dead is much better. To me, much the same as with the rest of the album, it's like he took the country soul style, or in this case just country and really mastered it. It's much more subtle and less obvious than Horrible Day.

I'm Not Dead (I'm In Pittsburgh) - Horrible Day
Sad Old World - Dark End Of The Street
Don't Cry That Way - Strange Goodbye (at the beginning, anyway)

"If you doze much longer, then life turns to dreaming. If you doze much longer, then dreams turn to nightmares."

Yeah, I agree on the "I'm Not Dead"/"Horrible Day" connection. I think "Horrible Day" was a MUUUUUCH better attempt at that type of song! "I'm Not Dead" is currently the only song on the new album that I just don't like (although I love the title).

Down to you chorus has the exact same melody as
''it reminds me of you/me'' of American Music by Violent Femmes

The piano in "Down to You" is very similar to "Calistan Way".

OK, I've been checking for the past 2 days, and still, no one has said, " You're right jimmy, "Fitzgerald" does sound like the Car's "You Might Think". Oh, jimmy, you're so observant. So sharp."

Probably not. Superabound was a good song.

elijah is actually a good song, and the verses have similar rhythm patterns or whatever it is called.

I never noticed but now you've mentioned it they do seem similar.

The chorus kinda reminds me of Bob Seger's "Beautiful Loser" in a loose way.

To me the beginning of "Elijah" sounds somewhat similar to the beginning of "His Kingly Cave" off Devil's Workshop.
