Posted - 04/16/2006 : 22:10:09 Well, we have a thread about a funeral, so why not wedding?
Actually, I have a motive for this... getting married in a month and spent the weekend picking out songs for the DJ.
Which FB song would you pick? Leaning towards "Western Star" because that one's good for dancing.

her favorite FB song is St. Francis Dam Disaster.
In keeping somewhat with the marriage theme, St. Francis Dam Disaster was the theme song of my pregnancy, which coincided w the DITS tour.
Though the song's not about anything related to pregnancy it fit perfectly with mine, from Frank's lyrical measures ("she had 53 miles to go") which always reminded me of how many weeks I had to go, to other lyrics ("she carried in her every kind of thing").
On the way to the hospital on the last day of the pregnancy, I thought of the baby girl and of the last line "and now forever she would go," as if she were at the end of her travel and arriving at the big ocean of life.
OK. I'm a geek. I have tears in my eyes writing this post. Frank's such a huge part of my life.

Well, we sent the CDs to the DJ on Friday and "Western Star" made the cut. We'll see if people can dance to it. I know at least one person who will be howling at the end.

Posted - 04/17/2006 : 23:00:23 I think my wedding will feature some FB. "Here Comes Your Man" is a perfect wedding song - its bubbly and fun and you can sing along to the chorus. I also think i'd like "Sir Rockaby" and/or "My Favorite Kiss" in their somewhere.

Posted - 04/17/2006 : 20:26:46 Modern Age would be a good dancing song. Until the intro occurs again in the middle. But then, it would be funny to watch people try to dance their way out of that.

Posted - 04/17/2006 : 15:12:57 Sir Rockaby. But that is only one of many. Last May, I held a small wedding reception in my backyard for my wife and myself. Prior to the party, I made several, SEVERAL compilation cds for the day. I spent hours arranging the songs, so that no two artists had songs back to back. On top of that, at the time I only had a 4x cd burner. Very slow going. The big day came and went Somehow, I forgot to set up the sound system and play the music. It was a very informal party consisting mostly of drunks who did not mind nor notice that there was no music. I was in the kitchen most of the day, ensuring (and preparing) a constant flow of food. Oh well. The cds are good for long car rides, anyway.

Posted - 04/16/2006 : 22:35:26 I don't know, Speedy Marie, particularly the ending, is possibly the perfect love song. That's actually a much tougher one though because a funeral is about you and a wedding your wife-to-be will have to like as well as enough of the guests to make it fun. And danceable is important. I'd probably stay away from anything from Show Me Your Tears on, though. :)
