Posted - 02/24/2006 : 12:42:31 I have been a passive listener of frank/pixies for many years now. I went to the pixies concert in Toronto last summer and it lit a fire of interest and 2 weeks ago I started to recieve pixies/frank black albums from a friend of mine and the fire has now turned into a full blown blaze that can't be controlled. I have finally seen the light and the light is wonderful. |

Just finished a front-to-back session of Pistolero at unsafe volumes. That is a really good record. I don't know why I don't listen to it as much as SMYT and FB&TC. Great songs. Great singin. And whoever set up that drum sound should be given a good boy cookie.
I have LeeAnn Tweeden's poop in my freezer. |

Posted - 03/23/2006 : 07:30:01 In one of the Q+As, Frank mentions how he had a few of his telecasters stripped down, sent to Japan, and smoked for several days to dry in wood out, in the hope of getting a more 'vintage' tone. |

Posted - 03/23/2006 : 07:17:00 My personal favorite is Pistolero. Honeycomb and frankblackfrancis are up there too. My Tele is natural, not smoked...I don't even know what a smoked tele means. I know smoked salmon is good. |

Teenager, definitely. Then again, never heard of the yellow album. Orange is a close runner up to TOTY though.

once for all (again):
yellow = CD orange = LP (like i have)
and no, yellow/orange definitely. until the next spin of teenager, though...

Modification: only the "limited edition" LP copy with the silkscreened mailer covers are orange. I've seen copies of the LP on eBay with the exact same cover as the CD. I also have the silkscreened LP. It's nice. |

All the same, I prefer Teenager...

Easy typo to make. |

Posted - 03/03/2006 : 14:47:17 I usually call it TSTO/YATINNAGATOTY.
(The self-titled orange/yellow album that is nowhere near as good as Teenager Of The Year).

Posted - 03/03/2006 : 11:39:18 You know, those mountains look kind of ORANGE to me.
It doesn't really matter, though, as TotY is the better album.

Posted - 02/24/2006 : 19:34:13 Welcome to the Tomb of the Retarded Mummy, pl grivo. Oh, sorry. Wrong intro....
A wonderful time has chosen your interest. Frank Black's music is growing out of every different direction right now. Buy every CD and catch up.
p.s. just so you know- Charles stops by every so often. Remember these: he likes turkey, but only eats fish right now. His telecasters are smoked. And, most importantly, be careful mentioning coffee. He seems to have a bit of a dependancy he is trying to quell. OK, go.
Ohhhh, my hair is getting good in the back. |
