Posted - 01/02/2006 : 16:07:10 ... I am wondering right now!
Yes there are many reasons, like, he did the best modern pop tunes since Harvey Blindbell and has the most exciting rock band ever since the Bow Wow Bobbies... but... watching his solo latest videos makes me think that there must be something else...
But What!!! ? why does he have such an effect on me? On you?
Is he a new Godhead or something?!!
i'm half kidding...

he's the IT man of music. Ahh if I was only 1/1000th as cool as he is!!!
Most of the Information Technology guys that I have experienced have been imperial trolls who lord over their little patches of power. I hope that doesn't describe Mr. Black. |

I do not know. His work ethic? His honesty?
I stopped asking myself this a while ago. Why do I rate fB and his music so much while others find it unlistenable crap?
maybe i was dropped on my head a few too many times as a youngster. maybe when I decided as a teenager not to lead the expected 9-5/mortgage/marriage life and not to be apart of the 'Ralph Lauren' massive, I needed music to suit my direction away from social "normality". I doubt U2 would make a good soundtrack for my life. But Pixies and Frank Black sure did. And still do.
I doubt U2 would make a good anything to be honest, but you're dead right Frank is THE soundtrack to a life...mine anyway. His music as grown and developed pretty much with his first cohort of fans without alienating new ones. At the end of the day Franks's art is a mix of intelligence, wit and beautiful noises that hit an emotional button...I've never witnessed anyone whose music can make grown men and women publicly tearful in a room (or stadium) full of strangers to the extent that Frank does all the time |

Or maybe you saw a manta ray?
As for "Pass The Dutchie," what I've heard about the song was that the original lyric wasn't "dutchie," but some crazy Jamaican slang word for a joint. The lyric was changed, however, and a dutchie is actually a cooking pot. That's what I understand to be the case, anyway.

Posted - 01/03/2006 : 03:24:16 I don't know, it's just taken from the song Pass The Dutchie! It's rumoured to be a slang for a joint, but I don't know if that's true or not! It's just a pun on your sig, cassandra! ;)
