My Life Is In Storage - Lyrics

I had a castle, I had no hassles
Now tears are tassles, you're sure to know it
Just when you blow it, then you can stow it

My life is in storage, my life is in storage

Come take a voyage to personal storage
And we will forage, leashes for my hounds
My tools for my grounds, speakers for my sounds

My life is in storage, my life is in storage

Here are the pictures of permanent fixtures
Now they're just pictures lying in this stack
Baking in this shack of things I can't get back

My life is in storage, my life is in storage

What life has become, stored here for a sum
I hauled it, I feel dumb, got my lock and key
Paid a man his fee, now I wait and see

My life is in storage, my life is in storage

I believe in your perfect face, I believe in your place in the sun
Can we leave now this dusty space? can we have a little fun?

I was standing at the podium and though I was a little drunk
To the darkened auditorium, I delivered my funk
You were standing at the edge of the light, trying not to be too impressed
I was trying for the sake of the night, not to be too depressed
I called you on the telephone from a hotel in Beverly Hills
And though I was scared to the bone, you were giving me thrills

I believe in your perfect face, I believe in your place in the sun
Can we leave now this dusty space? can we have a little fun?

Quote thanks to llamadance, taken from Night Times

This is about making the big move from L.A. up to Portland and putting all my stuff in storage and changing my life. I've gone through all these raw moments, which I started to deal with on Show Me Your Tears. I'm living with it now, as opposed to being at the beginning of it, so I'm able to open up more about it on this kind of a song. As far as the arrangement, I sometimes like to take two different songs and smash them together in a Beatles kind of way. This gave Reggie Young an opportunity to kick back and play a nice, long solo at the end.

As usual peeps all gathered information is going towards making The Song Database the best Frank Black song database it can possibly be. What we need is:

and anything else you may have on the subject, if you know what a word refers to or what an obscure reference is, have a quote or have a theory then please, share, discuss away!

They never needed instructions on where to end a song; they simply let instincts take over, Black said. And, on "My Life Is in Storage," they were in such a groove that they kept playing for about two minutes after the lyrics had ended.

“My Life Is In Storage” I wrote in the hotel room in Nashville the night before we recorded it.

This is gonna sound really anal of me but I like the full quote, the last bit just adds a little something, I humbly submit:

Frank in a 2005 interview in Uncut:
" 'My Life Is In Storage' I wrote in the hotel room in Nashville the night before we recorded it. So it was all very quick."

I got some heaven in my head

If anyone knows the names of the dogs that FB has owned which have passed, this is the place to post them.

As there was no lyric sheet, for weeks I thought the lyric FB was singing was-
"leeches for my hounds..."

leashes makes much more sense...

HAPPY NY everybody!

storage units are some of the saddest landscapes around, just look at them. the movie Primer starts in a home's garage then moves to a storage garage, i thought that was fitting.

One of my favourite 'Honeycomb' songs. Great riff, and lyrics to boot.

Thanks for the info about this song. It's one of my favorites on HC.

I love this song so much. As soon as we move in a month or so, this song will no longer be one I relate to. Thank goodness.

It will be funny to see how much we keep and use what's been in storage or just give it away after not using it for two years. LOL.
