Posted - 10/20/2005 : 19:42:57 Tune in and listen to a one hour radio show on Frank Black's solo career.
Joshua Gingery and I will be playing some of the best of the best. (It's so hard to choose.)
3 pm Central Daylight time.
The show is a part of the WAVE project where anyone from the community can have a one hour radio show dedicated to a topic of interest.
KFAI Radio in Minneapolis/St. Paul Minnesota (an award winning public radio station)
http://www.kfai.org/
Here's how to listen online:
http://www.kfai.org/kfailive.htm
There are tools on the site to record the show. I am going to try to tape it, but it would be cool if someone else could tape it too and then we could put a link that people could access.
Anyway, please tune in.
Also let me know what songs to play. It is so hard to narrow it down to a one hour show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted - 02/07/2006 : 18:41:50 Thanks Mad Tempist for posting
I will have to clue Josh in. He just way far away, so he most likely won't be part of Frank Black's show for the new album if we are able to score that gig.
I am actually practically besides myself for missing my FB buddy and my husband is missing the poker buddy.
Thanks OMIACC Hopefully we will get to do it again! :) |

Posted - 10/28/2005 : 22:39:01 Hey DG,
Feel free to shoot me an email if you want. I can walk you through what I did.
your link seems broken because there's a period at the end of your link.
I used rawavrecorder.exe to record the Real Audio file from the archive. I downloaded it from here, I think....
http://www.rawavrecorder.homestead.com/
You should be able to type in the url of your realplayer file:
http://helix.kfai.org/ramgen/replay/wave_prj-1.rm
And then click record.
You then have to come back and stop the recording 1 hour later, because it doesn't know when to stop. When it's done, you'll have a 600MB .wav file.
I opened this file in iTunes and RIGHT-CLICK on it and select "Convert Selection to mp3" or "Convert Selection to aac." Then you have a 80MB recording of the show.
Then I'd use iTunes to burn to a CD to listen to in my car. You can do this by putting the mp3 in a playlist and RIGHT-CLICK on the playlist to "Burn to CD." You can set up your EDIT-PREFERENCES-ADVANCED-BURNING to burn mp3 or regular CD audio.
email me if you have questions or email me if you want me to burn a CD and mail it to you.

Posted - 10/28/2005 : 20:11:12 Here's a link: http://www.kfai.org/kfai2/audarch.htm. Go to the end of the list where it says Wave Project. Before Sunday, click on the download current show and after Sunday, click on download previous show. It should be up for another week.
(it has a little bit of the show before, so don't be freaked by the Dolly Parton cover. It's not Frank singing it ;) )
Also looks like we will have to wait 6 mos to do another show. Or we might get lucky and get to fill in for one earlier :)!!!
Right now I am trying to figure out how to download and burn a cd of it :)

Sean, I will be in touch! Thanks for your offer!
Prozacrat, you're moving to Minny? We will have to have another meet up!
Hopefully by Thurs I will be able to figure out how to download the show.
If any of you want to drop KFAI a friendly line, (at kfai.org) and let them know what you thought of the show, that might improve our odds of getting another slot!
Thanks again for all of you who listened and checked out this thread!

I've been meaning to in South Dakota here, since the FCC tends to forget we exist, and my dad has the means to broadcast a pirate TV and radio station out of our garage, but I'm moving to Minneapolis soon, so, alas, it won't happen. That was a run-on sentence. I'm going to download the show as soon as I get to a faster connection. Can't wait to hear it!

Posted - 10/25/2005 : 08:29:42 ok...so i have been out of the loop of this thread for a little while. thanks for all the support AND constructive criticism. Daisy and I had a friggin blast doing this and hopefully can make it a regular thing. to be completely honest with all you guys, i did't ask Abby out. I just found it extremely ammusing to chat about it for some reason so...yeah. It was all worth it to see the look on Daisy's hubby face when i started writing it. love ya derek. Daisy and i definitely wanted to do this first and foremost for Frank. I guess it's kinda like wondering how you ever lived before they came out with cell phones...that's what daisy and i think about FB's music. we wanted to "convert the heathens" so to speak. any ideas or suggestions would be welcome. we get together quite regularly so diasy and i will work on a format with the intention of making the most amount of people happy with what is being played.

Posted - 10/24/2005 : 15:26:28 Let's just say we're lucky. We all agree our favorite artist has at most one bad song and many of us would say all his songs are good.
That's a rare thing and a lot of fans of other music can't say that!

Posted - 10/24/2005 : 09:58:21 That's exactly what I thought Doog. There's some primitive rhymning in there but it's a screamer. It shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as Violet, which is, incidently the only FB song I would call a stinker. I think songs like Hermaphroditos, Fazer Eyes, and 1826, whilst all good songs, are probably the worst songs on their albums. |
fbc |
Posted - 10/24/2005 : 04:49:21 No. Well, not mine, anyway. Just aslong as you like it, Doog. That's all that matters.

Is it the general opinion of FB fans that the song 'The Cult Of Ray' is a BAD song?! WHAT!?! It's amazing! One of my faves!

But we will keep your suggestions in mind for the next show!
I need to check with Josh but I am debating going back or starting w/ yellow/orange and just go through the discography one song at a time. That way we can have more facts and chit chat and keep things focused. :)
And then of course we can convert the whole Twin Cites and intrenet to Frank Fans.
My vison to take control the world is almost complete..mahwahhaha...

Posted - 10/23/2005 : 18:55:56 Well, that's not the songlist I would have chosen.. In fact, you got a couple of real stinkers in there! You needed a couple of big hitters like Freedom Rock and Robert Onion. |

Posted - 10/23/2005 : 18:29:08 Hehe Suprabounder. It was funny I think when we went into it that we were more worried what would slip out of our mouths that would get us in trouble. We forgot until the last min about the lyrics. We looked up what we could on FB.net but then had to go with it. We'll do better pre screening next time. (Because we're going to send this into the KFAI folks to show that there's a ton of interest for more shows) :)
Thanks Scruvs for posting that link!

Posted - 10/23/2005 : 17:47:34 Daisy and Josh, I'm only up to Hermaphrodito so far, but you guys did a really great job. Good song picks, your voices are good, a little humor (Josh's coffee deal, Daisy deleting Cult of Ray from his discography ;-)) all in all great job. Got goose bumps when Don't Ya Rile 'Em started, as well as just thinking about so many of the fb.net members listening to the same thing at the same time. We definitely need to arrange the fb.net convention at the Las Vegas show when the Catholics reunite!

Posted - 10/23/2005 : 15:16:51 Hey guys thanks so much for listening. It was so cool to have the chat in real time!
Definately a HUGE thanks to KFAI and Abby for hooking us up and bringing the love of Frank to the masses!
We're gonna try to make this a regular gig. So hopefully we will get to your request in the next go around
It definately felt great doing the show. I am guessing it might be the first time 1826 was played on the radio due to the fact it's so long. Nice that some of the lesser known Frank Black songs also got some play in there!
If you listen to the first ackward intro, that's because we were supposed to have another promo or two before we started talking. Live radio at its best tee hee hee.
I am listening to a tape of it. Listening to your own voice is so brutal.
Our engeneer Abby was awesome. She said she thought it'd be no problem to get another show. Especially if we could come in at the last minute. So Josh and I will let you know when our next gig is.
It was such a blast to have you all chatting with Josh real time.
It really is going to help is get another show that there were so many people here chatting and into it!! It's cool that we got so many people listening to a home Vikes/Greenbay game!!
I was reading the posts too, over Josh's shoulder. So thanks for all the posts!
I have to figure out how to download the show. I guess it is going to be up there for two weeks. So try to download your copy now.
OMINACC, we did have some Frank stuff scriped out but then we thought that this might be our only time to have a Frank Black only show we wanted to keep the dialogue to a minimum. But I am thinking next time, we'll want to do some more cool chat and bio info about Frank.
Thanks again for checking us out!! :)

Posted - 10/23/2005 : 15:13:15 cool, i am listening now. i don't get it though. keeping dialouge to a minimum to please the fans making requests? surely they could just pop in the cd... i'd rather listen to fans talking about him. anyway, still cool. well done you two.
