Posted - 10/10/2005 : 10:50:05 Heard an anecdote last week off of a fellow Pixies fan (yet to educate him to the wonders of solo Frank) who said that he'd read that in the early days of Frank developing his singing style, Frank was given the sage advice off of another band's (he seemed to think a fairly big one from the early nineties) singer, that the way to enhance his style was to always "sing it like you hate the bitch".
Anyone else heard, read about this or can offer any fuel to this wild rumour (though one that I quite like).

Posted - 10/12/2005 : 06:57:52 So Frank was supposed to sing "Oh! Darling" like he hated a female dog? I've found that usually a stern "NO!" works better.

He might have meant a female dog. You're jumping to conclusions, which only shows how your mind has been formatted by centuries of male oppression. It's okay though, we've all been there.

I think that the word "bitch" should be banned because of its sexist connotation. We should use "female dog" instead.

Posted - 10/12/2005 : 02:30:00 I think that the word "bitch" is very objectifying - girls shouldn't be blamed for loving sex.

Who the hell is that? I have a guess. And a ticket to Frank Solo Education Camp.

Posted - 10/10/2005 : 11:06:13 I remember reading somewhere that he was a neighbor of Charles and he (the Thai dude) used to have a small recording studio in his garage and Chucky would go over and sing Beatles songs. Apparently that's when the "bitch" advice was given. |

Posted - 10/10/2005 : 11:00:38 The guy was apparently a Thai rock star - I forget how the contact was made, maybe a flatmate? Its true, as far as I know, at least a very persistent rumour.
EDIT: see Jedi's response for a more factual approach.

Posted - 10/10/2005 : 10:59:13 It wasn't someone in a band, it was an Asian neighbour who had been something of a famous musician back in Southeast Asia (Thailand? I can't remember where he was from). Josh Homme mentions him (and gives his name, but I couldn't catch it...)in the BBC2 documentary that Jo posted about some time ago, and Dazin also makes a passing mention in his Pixies book.
