I would like to apologise for my comments on 'if i were frank', but seriously it was meant to be tounge in cheek, frank can do what the hell he likes, but i was not very tactful and i do appreciate kathryns comment about the fact that this forum is very open, i dont want to ruin it for anybody. I overstepped the mark i guess.

What a palatable turn this thread has taken!
Have fun with the booze and the boys.

We're going now. To have dinner in a restaurant in Rome. And I'm not paying! Hows that for palatable?
OldManInaCoffeeCan Posted - 10/07/2005 : 11:15:51
Mmmm, sounds quite palatable!

I'm leaning toward a single malt and some amber/brown beer while jamming out on the Brown Album later tonight (Wife and daughter will be gone and me and my boy will have the house to ourselves. I can't wait!)

Nothing right now, but I'm going to eat out tonight and will have a nice red wine with the dinner and coffee and amaro afterwards. Soon.

What are you having?

I know, I just couldn't tell whether everyone was getting it or just didn't want to get it or what.

But "palatable". That is a nice word. Thanks for using it and making me look it up. Palatable...

Its "a matter of taste" really

Specifically, choosing a taste that makes this thread somewhat palatable without bending over and without ignoring that the Emperor is naked, huh!

I don't know about acceptable, I just doubt that it's possible.
What do you think?
VoVat Posted - 10/07/2005 : 10:35:59
All I want to know is if it's acceptable to shout "fire" in a closed thread.

OK, I guess I'll have to spell it out:(you sure do have a short memory floop, or perhaps being temporarily exiled from this Shangri-la, as you were on July 3, 2005, is too painful for you to remember)

Sorry pal, no can do. I reiterate: Fiddy Pee was entitled to express his possibly naive opinion, as should we all be - providing it is not grossly offensive, which his was not. I appreciate that we are fortunate to have FB drop in from time to time, but I really don't think that he is delicate enough to be put off by some young whipper-snapper suggesting that he may be a bit on the portly side, do you?

Ooooohhhh, you're going to be in big trouble Nemesis if "you know who" sees your post.

I don't think that 50 Pence has anything to apologise for. This is supposed to be a forum after all - a place where people can exchange frank (pun intended) views with impunity. Just because someone may be of the opinion that FB is a little over-familiar with the route to the pantry, and that the Nashville stuff is comparatvely disappointing, I think that locking the thread was way over the top. While I appreciate that some of the people who conduct their social lives vicariously through this forum get all incontinent whenever FB is critisized, it is not a good enough reason for The Ministry Of Truth to come goose-stepping to the rescue of the emotionally frail by censoring other people's thoughts. Besides, if people think that 50 Pence is talking out of his fudge tunnel, then surely they should be given the opportunity to say so - which ain't a-gonna happen while lively debates are going under the jack boot on a whim. At the end of the day, the offending remarks were not that offensive, and if folk do not like what they are reading then they can always switch threads. Freedom of speech may be a radical concept in certain Islamic states - but outlawing it here does not bode well for the future of the forum.

VoVat Posted - 09/21/2005 : 09:29:34
I didn't really see that thread as particularly insulting. I mean, if I would do something if I were Frank, that doesn't mean I necessarily think Frank himself should do that thing. It's just a "what if" exercise. That said, I do think the "lose some weight" comment was uncalled for.

Itīs funny, there was a time when people were afraid someone might reveal some secret of theirs unknown to their fellows. Nowadays, people are afraid someone might name what they already know.
