Your top 5 best track performances by the man at a show you attended:

5) Montreal show probably 4-5 years ago, lights go dark, a spot light hits the stage and this female vocal comes out saying

"All the tired horses in the sun
How am I supposed to get any riding done ?"

Then Frank comes out, with a BIG ASS Silver belt buckle, black jeans black shirt, and starts saying that over and over. Holy chills. I'd never seen him open a show anything like that.

4) Pixies in Montreal, Umass. Frank belted it out so hard, people crowd surfing all over, it was mental.

3)Ottawa show (Cult of Ray tour), Freedom Rock. Sweet lord even the people who I brought to the show who didn't know FB lost it.

2) Ottawa, I love your brain. I'm just dying to hear him play this live again, I've yet to see that kind of energy duplicated at a FB show.

1) Still with the catholics on the tour they started experimenting with the slide. Both Rich and the younger guitarists whose name eludes me both have slide guitars. They do a slide version of this monkey's gone to heaven. I'd do anything to have a copy of that.

I wish i could remember 5 but my memory is shot. it's not even blurry, there's just nothing there. the only proof i attended are the tickets.

1) the first time i saw Frank with the Catholics 98-99? I don't remember much but i know i must have been in awe for a few minutes. Seeing him on stage for the very first time. Wait! I do remember how easy he makes playing the guitar look. I was impressed and again in awe of that. Having played these songs for time myself, then to see the Man play it like it should be. A sight to behold.

2) Madchester Uni - Hearing the opening strum of L.A and feeling ecstatic. Then Rich G pulls out the drumstick. An eff Bee memory for life.

3) - Being sent shivers and smile wide as my ass during I Need Peace.
The band were so tight it's unbelievable. And the one song they all need to be on cue, they delivered.

4) - the night the Cs dropped two or three Pixies songs. I just grabbed my brother in disbelief and wonder.
"Look bro! it's Santa!"

5) - smoking the green stuff during a Frank Black gig. A pleasure and bain. I've forgot so much.

No, but I was at the recent Pixies gig, with Barry (therewererumours), and Oisin (oldfellas). I never met Bazza, or Old Neptuna, who was there too!

Wait. Maybe not. My mistake.
Did you have the chance to get to that in Dublin?
I was home over the Christmas holidays and had a blast.

Weren't you the guy smiling beside Bazza at the Frank in-store at Virgin Dublin?

Another cool experience I had at the Montreal show was the fact that I had three tickets to the show and my brother could not come along so I arrived outside of the venue exitting from a cab into a frenzied mob of fans screaming if I had an extra ticket. I never usually do but this time I did. Everyone grabbed and pointed and yelled and this very friendly guy politely asked me if I knew of anyone who might have an extra. He held out a wad of bills (easily $150) and offered it to me when he noticed I was showing him a ticket. I think the ticket cost me about $20 so I grabbed a $20 bill and thaned him. I think I remember hearing him yelling that he would buy me drink inside. Obviously not expecting the packed house upon arrival inside and the inevitability of not finding me amongst the crowd. Maybe his strategy? Anyways, that was a nice feeling. No one should be ripped off to see a man with such an honest talent. Whomever that guy was I am still waiting for my drink. And sorry to the countless others who were screaming and yelling after seeing him get a ticket. Oh well! C'est la vie.
