I'm sure it's been discussed to death, but I can't actually find a thread about it. So, what do you big Frank Black fans think is his best album? I'm a big Dog In The Sand fan. I like Honeycomb so far too.

Any Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds fans out there?

Sadly, I have to say I'm not a huge fan of anything past "The Cult Of Ray" With TOTY being my absolute favorite album of all time. I just can't get into his countrified sound, Honeycomb included. I have everything the guy ever recorded. And FBATC and Pistolero hold special places in my heart. Doesn't mean I don't still love the guys' music. I'd just rather he'd a stuck with his "teenager" sound. But I realize people eventually do change, and he's doing what he loves...but alas...I will always yearn for that "teenager" sound....I like the way it makes me think of California and the American southwest....

Not all of them. I like disc 2 (well not all songs) but disc 1 is way better (oh my golly alone is better than the whole disc 2).

I agree. The more I listen to the 2nd disc, the more I find it interesting. I can't say the same about the 1st :(

I'd like to hear Frank cover Tapioca Tundra by The Monkees, one of my favorites. It's real deadpan but Frank could go ballistic at the end.

That would be interesting. One I think would be cool is Changes by Bowie. Another would be See No Evil by Television.

My first and favorite Frank Black album was Teenager Of The Year, followed by Frank Black, and The Devils Workshop.
The new one is okay, I need some time to let it grow on me.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds are cool, I just recently got into them.

One Who Hath Swum Guacamole Tradicionale
1. Find a really hot Mexican woman. Salma Hayek will do in a pinch.
2. Marry her or start some kind of intimate relationship together.
2. Ask her if she'll whip you up some guacamole. Tell her you'll trade for a massage.

Wah-lah.

I'd like to see him cover Leadbelly's version of John Henry. Or perhaps Johnny Horton's Whispering Pines.

I make a kick ass Guacamole... I find the secret is in the fact that I do not use the blender (always makes it tastier)... I am cooking for some of my students tomorrow and was thinking about making this, but I am thinking that Guacamole is something that a Chinese person will probably not like (Chinese generally are very stubborn when it coes to food, they do not really accept other types of foreign cuisine). Fuck it, I'm gonna make them a Guacamole, and some salsa followed by a Madras curry and maybe a Thai seafood salad....

Anyone else like cooking for other people?

Btw, my fave Frank album has to be the first one, although they are all good (I am sure I have posted this a hundred times over).

I'm going to say the best album of his whole career (Pixies included) is probably his first self-titled album, but my favourite to listen to is Black Letter Days.
